I need to score 4 runs with Jorge posada..... if inning 3 starts before I complete that. And then wind up scoring the runs with posada after will I earn the program points for inning 2?

You can retroactively earn every available inning star at any time during future innings. The only stars I believe you can no longer earn post-2nd Inning Program are the daily missions and the random stars they throw you here and there.

So I think somebody who buys the game in August could still technically earn their way to Hanley or Duke or any of the other feature players.
