1.09 Patch Discussion

Nothin to report here, I’ve still not had a single fielding issue since the update yesterday.
-
Second rs game since patch, first today. Mickey mantle misses an easy fly ball in outfield costing me two runs, then I loose by two runs. Then later in the game larkin let’s a dribbler go through his legs. What’s the point of playing? Competitive gaming in mlb20 is reliant on who gets less glitch errors. Very disappointed, it’s not “better” if it’s exactly the same
-
They stated pretty clearly that every fielding animation is unique. Of course there are still errors, there are apparently 100+ animations to consider. They said the work is not all done. Most people here aren't developers, so I understand if you don't know that debugging is difficult work. The best thing a user can do is provide information to the team so they can identify the specific things to fix. That means videos. If you really care about fixing it, stop complaining and provide videos.
-
I had Kris Davis make a diving catch to left center and a sinking liner that was smoked and I cant catch a fly ball with mickey mantle.
-
The error with mantle he was running to the ball , made it to the circle with plenty of time, he just was a couple seconds late putting his glove up and let the ball hit him in the chest. It’s an animation glitch. Also this was near the wall but before track
I have a video but I don’t do YouTube , would be nice if we could just embed here

That was Showdown Kris Davis. You know, the Gold Glove winner.

They won’t fix it.

See guys?, the ones complaining and making silly posts about fielding will never get fixed?.....use this post to apologize
Please ban this hot pocket eating, offline playing wannabe troll.
How is this trolling?, the majority of you guys complained constantly that the game is garbage and made multiple threads screaming from the hilltops wanting refunds and saying SDS is slacking off and don't care bla bla bla. Now what are you gonna complain about now? go head, make something up. Why don't you man up and use this post to apologize for all the doubts and accusations you guys made.
Are you serious? They released a patch last time saying it would fix fielding and they didn’t.
You say what else is there to complain about?
- Inconsistent hitting feedback
- Pitching accuracy issues - serving up meatball homeruns on good input
- High sinkers
- Facing 99 Kluber every friggin game!
- Homerun or Bust feeling
- Perfect/Perfect is a double play/warning track shot but a Good/Okay is a homerun blast into the upper deck
- Base-runners running like they’re on ice
- Changing hitting when it was near perfect in beta / 1st week.
- Lying to us that skill will matter more than ever this year.
There’s more to complain about but I’m tired of it at this point.
- Turn that silly hitting feedback box off, its misleading and triggers noobs, you should feel when you're late or behind on a pitch not look at a box to tell you.
- That's baseball, suck it up.
- Whats wrong with high Sinkers?, lol okay high sinkers shouldn't be a thing
- Stop playing online and start a Franchise like a real man.
- You haven't tested the game enough to find realistic Sliders yet.
- See number 1.
- Whats wrong with that?, that's how Canadians run when they play baseball.
- Cause they realize it would be too easy and online casual noobs would feel too entitled and Sim players wouldn't want to play The Show.
- Skill matters that's why noobs don't like this year's game.
How do you turn that silly little feedback thing off? I can't find it in the gameplay options!

Swing/Pitch Info in the general gameplay settings Advanced tab (press L2 when you're on basic settings). This will turn off the pitch callout as well - the white dot and accompanying info that shows what, where and how fast a pitch was.

In a game last night, with the patch in RS, in an infield popup my FotF Gallo at 3B wouldn't lock on/look up/recognize the ball... I moved him around and he just never recognized it.
Thankfully it was a high pop and i had my wits about me to L2 switch tp my SS and make a diving catch just before it landed. I have a recording saved and can send to you if you'd like, just let me know.

Thanx bro been looking for that for quite some time. Always felt it was inaccurate and annoying.

My fielders glitched twice in 1 play, first Gleyber not moving then Soto not locking on:

Holly dude, why is your pitch speeds so slow? That would totally throw me off so much, I've never seen it that slow...did you lower Pitch Speeds all the way down? or is this how it is in those beginner levels like Veteran and All-Star?...seems like its in slow motion.
Yeah Josh, it's called events and unfortunately if I want rewards then I have to play on it
A reward? Like a virtual pat on the back or you get cards and stuff? this is what noobs look forward to in The Show?

That was actually in a posada moments and then again in the 2nd inning conquest map

Can we please get some effing urgency when throwing? All around. I’ve had multiple situations where my opponent bunts with Robles towards the 2B and FOTF Albies takes his sweet time picking up the ball and throwing it. A defender of his caliber can make off balance/awkward throws without taking 5 seconds to transfer and gather himself.
Then there’s the OF (omg the OF). I understand the player needs to create some momentum when fielding the ball off the wall but holy hell why does he take a big ol skip and long arm swing when the runner is rounding 3rd heading to score.
Please fix this.
-
Fielding is still pretty bad guys. 2-3+ times per offline game the fielders are not locking onto balls. If anything the infield defenders have gotten worse since the patch. I’m seeing many times where diamonds fielders aren’t picking the ball up and throwing it. Something is just not right about the game code this year. The baserunning has honestly never been great, but the baserunning IQ this year is way worse. Last night I had runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs. I hit a gapper that was easily gonna be a double scoring 2 runs, but the runner at 2nd refused to start running even though I was pressing to advance all from the beginning. Actually ended up being a ridiculous triple play by CPU defenders on Rookie. I want so much to love the game, but it’s getting harder and harder. I’ve watched a lot of the Players League from the beginning and it’s gotten so I even feel embarrassed for SDS during the games. The game code errors are evident in many of the games, and those games are only 3 innings.

So many people on here (on both sides of the good/bad game debate). I just generally can't stand the back and forth hatred and bithcing at each other. I come here to be informed about the game. I wish there was a way to see only informative posts and not the constant complaining about the same stuff over and over, the fighting and namecalling between people, etc.

And then you have the people who think they're comedians, who aren't funny in the least bit. But hey, you do you, I guess.
