This has been a problem for years, it keeps at bats undeservingly alive. Worst thing is when they foul off 5 or 6 pitches in this manner and then you hang 1 for a homer.

This literally happens regularly in baseball.. like, every game!!

So? I wasn't saying it's unrealistic or that it doesn't happen in real life baseball. I'm saying it's a problem in this game because it decreases the skill gap in a pointless and frustrating manner.

Oh and btw, I've never seen a batter who sits fastball being able to flail and still make contact on a 70mph curveball. Show me the video of that please.

I don't see that happening on higher difficulty.. it also ties into the hitter's vision rating and pitcher's K/9 rating 100%..
What's the point of getting better cards if these ratings don't affect gameplay?

And watch a game. Most major league hitters can adjust to stay alive off a slow curve when sitting fastball. Also, who throws a 70mph curve that also throws hard irl?

My point is that someone who sits fastball and swings without any discipline at every offspeed pitch in the dirt shouldn't be rewarded by keeping the at bat alive. No matter how much you try to argue that is is "normal" in real life baseball, it really isn't. And it shouldn't happen in this game either. If you can't sit back, you should strike out. Learn to adapt.

It wouldn't happen irl because guys don't press x to swing.. but I get your point. I just don't see it much above all star. Especially with better k/9 pitchers

It has improved this year for sure, compared to 19 and especially 18. But it still happens more than I'd like.

    Oh...you haven’t seen it...obviously that means it doesn’t exist.

Get real. You’re complaining because you’re frustrated and I get that. But you’re also ignoring reality.

I'm not frustrated at all, I'm supporting OP in his opinion and then I explain why with good factual arguments.

I saw hoskins do it sometime in 2019, fouled off 8 pitches and on the 14th pitch hit a homer, but I'm not digging through 8 months of highlights to find the clip

I'm not saying batters can't foul off pitches consistently. I'm saying that if a batter sells out on a fastball, there is NO WAY he can make contact on a 70mph curveball in the dirt while flailing. It's just not possible.

I think it's not as bad as years past, as I think strikeouts are a lot more common this year versus prior years.

And Hoskins has terrible bat to ball skills..

A good hitter can foul off tons of pitches until he gets his pitch.. example. Prime Jose Bautista (like 2010-2015).. dude would foul off anything thrown near the black until he got something to handle...

No matter how much you try to argue that is is "normal" in real life baseball, it really isn't. And it shouldn't happen in this game either. If you can't sit back, you should strike out. Learn to adapt.

Agree that it is pointless to reward bad input so consistently, but have you ever watched an Eddie Rosario at-bat? He swings at literally everything and generally has good enough bat-to-ball skills to foul off anything, regardless of pitch type or location. It shouldnt be rewarded that way in a video game, just saying it can happen IRL.

FYI, hitters foul off out of zone pitches all the time in baseball.. this is not far fetched even slightly

OK. If you are swinging for a fastball you will never sniff making contact with an off-speed pitch especially not in the big leagues.

If that were the case and you couldn't adjust, there would be 20-25 strikeouts a game per team, genius...

Even when you're not talking about your ping or complaining about something, you offer bad insight. Way to go buddy
