Anyone seen actual odds on Bobby Witt?

@TripleH-4481_PSN It's getting to 2K levels of scarcity, which is very, very predatory and very, very anti-consumer.
It makes me worry about what's coming in the future because even in my two years playing i can see they're on a slippery slope downwards from being the most user friendly game to joining the pile of stank that is most sports games in 2026.
-
Its not even close to 2K or Madden levels in my opinion. It's still incredibly easy to get a ton of very good cards and tons of stubs completely free in this game.

The 2K comment was very specifically referencing the ridiculously rare drop rate of Witt, which is something 2K has been doing for a long time.
As I also said, it's always been more user friendly than those games, but there are signs it's going in the wrong direction and will eventually be in the same place as those games.

I have been playing since MLB the show 21 I think the rarest cards we’ve ever had was when you had to win 12 games in one event entry. And you could only do it once nlike BR people could repeatably earn the cards. Late in game cycle I think there were less of a thousand of those cards floating around.
-
It’s absolutely heading that direction. People that deny that always fall back on the ability to build a good team no money spent. It’s not about that, it’s about making cards ridiculously scarce and expensive. Making money is one thing but this is next level for sure.
-
@Pergo_MLBTS I don’t play the myteam mode in 2k so can’t speak on that I’m a park player only which that aspect of the game is very consumer friendly. Madden on the other hand maybe the most unfriendly for users no debate what so ever. Last year I think there was a 150$ bundle for a 4% chance at a bo Jackson card.

@virusts_PSN I have nothing against having the odd rare card for great online achievements.
I'll never get them, and that's okay, but at least they're rewards for performance and not 'give us money and hope you can gamble and beat the crazy 1:14,000 odds (rough maths). -
By my very rough (it's early morning) calculations, you'd need to buy 290x50 boxes to, on average, pull Witt.
That's 21,750,000 stubs.
Haha

He just dropped. I'd expect the drop frequency to increase as days go by. If people are going to spend actual money on simply hoping for him then I don't blame SDS for taking advantage of that.
-
He’s the new Cabbage Patch Doll. All of us Kids want him now!!! 🥬
-
That’s crazy. It’s like a chase card with worse odds. Strange experiment this time of year.
-
I've had a 1 mill buy order on him for 5 hours (I was 27th in line).
I still don't have him. -

And the leaderboard cards involve a huge deal of luck on top of that. And are ultimately more limited than this Witt card.
None of it is player friendly.

Perhaps that's the reason why we didn't get a chase card after Judge.
Try the "super chase" card method, where it's a zillion times harder to get.

I think you'd be mad (or a gambling addict) to spend money on this game, but just because people do, doesn't mean it's okay for SDS to exploit that weakness.
And yes, i am sure there are a small minority of spenders who aren't addicts and just want to spend some of their discretionary income on the game, but being realistic, the vast majority who do spend have some sort of issue that is exploited by predatory gaming companies.

I have the stubs, but the idea of participating in this just makes me feel dirty.

SDS job is to make money. The consumers have the free will to do as they choose.

Now I will say this... I actually LOVE this idea. It makes opening packs more exciting.
However, I will also say that at .007% odds, this is brutal.
Love the idea, just up the odds. Like 20x the odds. -

Here is what 2K does:
They will have the highest rarity tier of their pack contain, lets say:
JR Richard, Mike Schmidt, Toni Stone, and Mickey MantleThey would advertise the drop rate of that tier to be, quoting their pack odds, <1%
What they didn't tell you was that odds within the tier were not equal and Mantle had significantly worse odds than the other cards
(This year they have at least made the top tier odds as 2%, and explicitly called out the cards that are rarer drops within the tier. A rare case of one of these companies moving in a more player friendly position)
The worst thing 2K does (did?) is their festivals where they put their top meta cards behind exchanges that give the illusion of being grindable at a glance: but if you do the math they are NOT grindable even if you play 24 hours a day. You are required to buy packs, using only currency purchased with real money to gamble for the pieces you need for the exchange.
So yes, SDS is a LONG way from that. But this year has not been encouraging for the future. The Show used to be about earning cards where the majority of your cards came from programs of some kind: XP Path, TA, programs, ranked path, etc. And packs gave you choices of which cards to take. This is clearly no longer the model.

Love the idea, just up the odds. Like 20x the odds.I liked when they put the Kaiju cards in packs in 23. The only mistake was not putting them back in during the forever program so they all became unobtainable.
