Who I would've chosen for FS cards...
-
Not that anybody cares, but perhaps there can be a fun dialogue here. Some of my picks would've required changing a prospect here or there, but that's not really a big deal in my eyes.
These are the players I'd have chosen for Future Stars cards:
AL East
Yankees - Clarke Schmidt
Red Sox - Bobby Dalbec (though Jeter Downs seems like a far more fun player to use, but he's not even expected til 2021)
Blue Jays - Bo Bichette
Orioles - Anthony Santander
Rays - Yoshitomo TsutsugoAL Central
Indians - Oscar Mercado
Twins - Luis Arraez
Tigers - Casey Mize
Royals - Brady Singer
White Sox - Luis RobertAL West
Angels - Jo Adell
Astros - Jose Urquidy
Rangers - Nick Solak
Mariners - Evan White
A's - A.J. PukNL East
Braves - Mike Soroka
Mets - Andres Gimenez
Marlins - Isan Diaz
Phillies - Alec Bohm
Nationals - Carter KieboomNL Central
Brewers - Keston Hiura
Cubs - Nico Hoerner
Pirates - Mitch Keller
Cardinals - Andrew Knizner
Reds - Shogo AkiyamaNL West
Dodgers - Gavin Lux
Giants - Mauricio Dubon
Padres - Mackenzie Gore
Rockies - Ben Bowden
Diamondbacks - Domingo LeybaObviously not all of these choices would be the top choice, and a number of them are used as prospects. I tried to pick players that are already in the majors or project to be in 2020. This is coming from a Brewer fan, so if there's a player you feel would fit better for your team, by all means, throw that name out there.
Edit: I changed soon to 2020, because I was not considering players who would very likely not be in the majors this year (under normal circumstances). So, if they're projected 2021 or later, I'd be more inclined to include them in the prospects series.

I liked your picks. They are well thought out and make sense.
I would have changed the Marlins pick to a handful of different players
JJ Bleday
Sandy Alcantara - A legit Future Star
Pablo LopezIt's hard to pick a Future Star on team that is so young and mostly not ready to face MLB competition.

I will not lie...I looked at every other team's depth chart and top 30 prospects. I didn't even consider doing that for the Marlins...I was just like...well...this guy got us Yelich, so he'll do.

At least you didn't pick the "headliner" from the Trade, Lewis Brinson.
You robbed us blind, well done by your GM.

Give me a High Diamond Verdugo for the Redsox

Stearns is great. He's pretty much stolen some great seasons from other teams for about nothing: Yelich, Hader, Shaw, Aguilar...He's so much better than Doug Melvin who would sign old has been pitchers to 4 year deals and traded Carlos Lee and Nelson Cruz for a closer and a handful of replacement players.

Andrew Knizer is mehh, I think Tommy Edman better fits the description of a "Future Star". In actual Topps cards, they stick "Future Stars" labels on 2nd year players who had good rookie seasons.
So Tommy Edman's card actually has future star written on it in in 2020 Topps Series 1

I did consider Verdugo...Just wasn't didn't want to reopen the Mookie Betts wound...although, at this point, I think it's going to end up being a steal for the Sox.

i meaan Jeter Downs was part of that trade too soooo you kinda already did hahah.
Right! Now we just need Mookie to sign back next year lol -

I chose Knizner because he's a catcher, honestly. I thought about Edman. I don't know much about him except he's got solid contact skills and he's a switch hitter. Looking at the numbers, definitely wouldn't be a bad choice.

I just love him because of how he plays lol. If there was a hustle stat, Edman would have 125. You can tell he puts in 110% effort in every at-bat
He's probably a 10-15 homer guy with 20-30 steals a year while batting .300 potential. So not outstanding, but more than solid.
Besides, Yadi is our FOTF card, getting 2 catchers would be a disappointment.

Wander Franco is hands down the top prospect in mlb and has insane skills... Yet will he even get one?
Also would make a lot more sense to see Deivi Garcia instead of Schmidt for the Yanks -- or dare we say Jasson Dominguez?
Boston needs Triston Casas -- he's got 70 grade power... Protype 6'4" 1B masher from the left side and above average hit tool.

If they dont pick Casas, Downs, Verdugo or Chavis for the Redsox, Ima be so confused lol

Wander Franco is projected to get to the majors in 2021. He can headline the Prospects cards and that'd be good.
Jasson Dominguez is 17 and not knocking on the door.
I chose Schmidt over Garcia just based how Garcia's numbers have gotten worse as he progresses through the level (Not bad...just worse) while Schmidt's have improved. It was pretty much a coin flip.

Fair point on the FotF catcher.
Looking at Edman's numbers, he's pretty impressive. I thought he was more middle of the road, but he's better than I would've thought.

Arizona could have been their top prospect Kristian Robinson.

Cant scout stats too much especially with pitchers because they will have them throw a steady dose of whatever pitch they want them to work on without caring for results so much. Garcia has premier insane swing and miss stuff and competing for a rotation slot. He'd be a ton of fun to play with. Schmidt is kind of far away 3 games above high A so if that factors as it does for Franco he should be out too.
Franco has a shot to accelerate this year much like Soto did, don't sleep on his ETA.

and the Padres should have been Taylor TramallTrammell perhaps, but Robinson isn't projected to arrive until 2022.
The Padres was tough. It could easily have gone to Tatis, Paddock, Grisham, Naylor...the list is kinda long. I decided to go with Gore since he's their top prospect and projected to reach the majors this season, and Trammell was extremely "meh" last year in AA.

Except where I said I was using players who were projecting to be in the majors soon. Perhaps I should've worded it differently and said "projected in 2020" which Franco is not, but Schmidt is (as is Garcia).
