I'm confused

Played my 5th WC game today and I'm confused on how a Bronze 1 Level player (me) can match up with someone who has a Ranked record of 0-0.
Yet he has a Championship Level Icon?
I'm assuming they got that playing Ranked co-op.
But if they have that banner; why are they playing in Bronze 1?
Is it because this WC may also be their first WC, like me, since theyre regular Ranked record is 0-0? (Mine was 2-0 coming in)
I just think I got fleeced.

They could have gotten that in a previous inning and this ranked season they haven’t played much and are bronze. Just because they have the icon doesn’t mean they just got it. Or maybe you did get shafted lol but I would think the former

it was weird, i got to Gold 2, and got a message from a guy in Silver 2 when i was playing him.

Could’ve gotten there just playing previous WC games since it doesn’t count to your ranked record. Player might only play weekend classics which is kind of dirty.
