I think as a 2 way player that closes, if the game is close I should be taken out of my position to close in the 8th/9th depending on the situation.

Now this normally wouldn’t be allowed for a position player but it is allowed for a designated 2 way player. This would give more opportunities to close because if your a good hitter it slowly stops the amount of closing opportunities, at least with how my career is going so far.

TBH, I think the two-way player designation messed the rules up. I remember in the way back (stats nerds will have to help) I remember a manager moving his pitcher to the outfield for one batter and then bringing him back to pitch. I'm almost certain this is not allowed any more.

AFAIK, now you can only pitch/field (or DH). I don't think you can be on the field and then come in to pitch.

I tried doing a two-way closer, once. I hated the exact situation you're describing. You either pitched or you fielded. And it kind of messed things up because you knew if you weren't hitting that day, it was going to be close.
