I picked up Pudge for the WC just solely to throw out runners. Anyone use him and are you able to actually throw out speed guys with him?

@D_e_m_I_s_E_MLBTS you cant throw anyone out with any catcher.
If you're good at guessing when people will run, you can pitch out - even if you do, you're only gonna get the runner 75 percent of the time. Most good players dont even think pitching out is worth it, as it wastes a valuable strike. But, most average players are super predictable in when they run. (Also, half the time they panic when you pitch out and try to get in a pickle - which is a bad decision unless you're playing a noob)
Does pop time even help on pitch outs? I assume so. I assume arm strength helps too.

@rubicante23_PSN 75% is a good rate to be throwing people out. Realmuto throws a good portion of people out for me. You will never be able to throw everyone out tho.

I gave up with defense for catcher. It doesn't help.

@Apolloz_99_MLBTS this is crazy to me…I have pudge and Mauer both P5 and even with fielding mods for 99 arm strength and 99 pop time, when I use JTs cityscape card I still throw out more runners with him…This has to come down to animation style at this point right??

Don’t listen to anyone that says you can throw out fast baserunners against competent human players with any catcher. You can not.

@I23SAVAGE23I_XBL you can just not every player. I would like to see where you can’t throw out a single person. It’s impossible not to throw out a single person.

@Apolloz_99_MLBTS I said 75 percent IF you pitch out and catch them. More like 8 percent if you dont pitch out (the same odds as getting a Chase card out of that Chase pack!)

I just played a ranked game and my fielding mod v mart threw out as many runners as the other guys pudge. Don’t waste ur coins.

Exactly, if you do happen to throw someone out it’s because they messed up their jump.

@I23SAVAGE23I_XBL yeah I think we both threw out 2 now mind u pudge’s throws had a different zip to them. But it’s not worth it but I do find what matters is the animation the catchers get idk if anybody else notices this. But for example cal Raleigh has a terrible animation it feels terrible he can’t throw anybody out but for example V Mart has bad defence but a good animation.

I agree there is a difference in animations. I figured it was based on a rating threshold.
It will help throw out guys that do not get a good jump.I’m not sure what controls some guys are using, but their runners take off the instant you initiate a slide step pitch, even before the animation starts.

I rotate between Biz with a fielding mod and Quero without one. For whatever reason Quero seems to throw out more people (still not often though).

Man, that Edgar Quero just rakes too. I was hitting like .450 with that guy.

@rubicante23_PSN I’ve heard good things I ended up running adley at catcher for my wc he’s had a very disappointing start to say the least. he’s hitting like .111 I trust he will turn it around tho with that defence and a switch hitter I can’t rly take him out. I moved victor to dh polonco to 2b Marte to center figgins to left and took out j ram.
