In the past couple months, I've gotten better to the point where I can hang with most WS-ranked players (where b4 I had to get super lucky to beat them). I've run into some guys that seem to use "tempo hitting" - where they watch leg kick and time their swing off that. Does anyone here do this?

I can see how it would massively improve your batting if you got good at it. It basically lets you not need to worry about timing and only focus on pci placement (which funny enough, is similar to what the cheating glitch does). Im not saying its a cheat or exploit- it takes a lot of skill and is recognized as legit - but it does kinda feel like they're playing a different game than the rest of us.

Its reminds me of when I was involved in the speedrunning community for a bit - the game feels broken when you speedrun it....it doesnt even feel like you're playing the normal game anymore.

And see, this is where Im so glad that I dont do any competitive play - it quickly kinda ruins the game. I think a lot of these guys only want to play with certain players on one difficulty, all the time. They only want the swings they know (because you have to memorize the tempo).

I love trying new players or players I have never used, to find that diamond in the rough kinda guy. Tempo hitting isn't good for that. Using the same players over and over again is boring. That is why the switch hitting meta is starting to get really stale with me.

I use tempo. I'm not elite but I'm pretty good and this year I honestly haven't played a ton.

I use same players all the time and don't really try new cards.

Trout, Polanco, albies, all have notable leg kicks.

Freeman and ohtani have like a toe tap load and then swing

Ketel and Kyle tucker barely have a stride but I hit well with them

Corey seager has a preload that's easy to time

Santander and acuna I think have a smaller step

Idk, you use the same swings and tempo gets fairly easy. You can see where they are in the stride.

Jackie and elly both have kind've like a little leg swing before they step forward.

Offline I hit like 500-600 with all those guys and whenever I use new cards for Topps now or something I'm terrible.

@ref479ode_PSN I’ve never understood tempo hitting like I know what it is and want to but just can never rly grasp it in game. Im usally a 900 area players but this season its just sweat after sweat after sweat. Idk if the casuals got pushed out or what but I want to hit ws before the cards get any cheaper tho because I’m figgins away from v-mart. I could also go for Clemens but I don’t think I have enough xp available to do so I’m only at like 320. And all I have left is the new conquest and mini season.

@Onix_Savage22_PSN I honestly think if you use consistent players all the time you just pick up the timing of their swing.

I'll even sometimes pause and go replay a previous swing to really zone in on the stride or kick.

I also basically just sit on fast stuff inside so that's what all my timing is tuned to.

If you watch a perfect perfect swing you'll see the time and load on contact is literally perfect. Higher leg kicks typically make it easier but like Polanco for example I think is a hair off so you gotta get used to his swing.

I think albies has the best tempo swing.

Even trout this year I started out consistently late with him until I got more swings with him and figured out his leg kick. I think it's not quite as high as past years.

Joc pederson also has a insanely high leg kick and MOST of these hitters i use are extreme pull tendencies. So since I sit inside and always early on fastballs I think the tendency is giving me better coverage or vision or whatever of inside pitches.

Albies for example, idk how many online hrs I've hit this year where my pci wasn't even near the ball and it was gone by a mile lol. Just cause the timing was good.

I saw a video of this on YT, and it's incredible how it helps! I even hit well with Vlad Jr., which i haven't in the past, doing Springer objectives.

Doesn't work for me because I use pci plus analog with stride. You start the stride. IMO this should be the only control setting allowed online. Same with pitching

I used to use full stride analog because I thought it was fun from the old MVP EA games, so I was kind of doing tempo naturally when I went to button. I kind of quit paying attention to the strides, but lately I’ve been using strike zone 3 on a bigger monitor timing strides, so it is interesting that you posted this.

The camera is at precisely the same level on strike zone 3 as strike zone 1, just zoomed out.
