So I have complained about this and see other complaints about it so I decided that since I have the card data from MLB 21 - 26 (up to and including Fridays drop) I had the means to put actual numbers to the feelings we all had.

So I used ChatGPT to analyze the file I use for my vault program, exclude live series cards (because they are always sellable) and used the is_sellable field on each card to tally the numbers...

    Here they are

@Dolenz_PSN I think they got tired of fixing peoples inventory who accidentally picked a TA twice instead of someone they didn’t already have.

Interesting test of hypothesis. Though, to make it more accurate, is there any way to adjust the results so that the prior year numbers only count cards released as of 4/27 in their respective years?

Given the number of TA cards and LS Collection rewards, I would think earlier in the year you would see a higher % of non-sellable cards as compared to the rest of the year. And as the year continues, the % of non-sellable cards would go down.

No, I don't have card release dates for any of the previous years cards. It is not a field that they include. Even though I am pulling it this year it still requires some manual work on my part.

But your instinct is right that we need to not jump the gun too badly on 2026 and see how it shakes out in the long run. We use the term in baseball all the time and it relates to this too - "Small Sample Size".

2025 increase in sellable % is 100% because of all the packs. 2026 will get there too, its just skewed because of WBC programs and live series collection.

Also wondering how it counts the spring breakout cards which have both sellable and non sellable versions

Can you give me an example of one (spring breakout that is sellable or not) and I will look at it's raw data in the file and see what that field says.

There are not multiple versions of the same card in the database. I can say that.

Every card should be sellable. Every single one.

    Wetherholt

If you get him through the conquest pack he is no sell. If you get him through the event pack (or the shop pack) he is sellable

Kind of funny how 2022 and 2023 had the biggest swing in sellable vs unsellable in back to back years but pretty much the exact same amount of sellable cards
