For years, I've dreaded simulating the off-season because the computer makes some really questionable roster moves forcing me to go week by week and check transactions.

Biggest pet peeve, for example, is when you're negotiating your contract offer, it says the team has $159m available in the budget and yet they spend <50% of it. Superstar free agents leave for money the team clearly could've afforded. The computers logic needs revamping or there needs to be a setting for us to have some roster input in this mode.

    Anyone share my sentiment?

For sure. I actually go in an edit the rosters/contracts prior to starting my RTTS so much that the CPU can’t really mess it up when it comes to re-signing players. Then I basically just have to make sure they aren’t making any free agent signings that don’t make any sense.

I'm 100% in agreement with this.

8 years into my career, two things stood out to me:

First, no team keeps their free agents. Almost every major talent signed with someone else. Even most of the ham-and-eggers. In 2033, the rosters are a complete jumble.

Second, your team will absolutely not sign you to a long term contract extension until you are free agent eligible. For all my arbitration years, I tried to resign a longer term deal and was told 'the team doesn't have the budget for this' ... even though the team had a budget of $600M and only had a payroll of $250M.

    The whole off-season needs reworking.

In the before times, NO ONE got long term deals until they hit arbitration. This was the major incentive of the CBA when they came up with the whole system. It gave the teams at least a few years of cheap talent.

The long term deals to rookies and guys in their first few years is something that has only started happening in the past decade or less.

@StinkyMcPooter_XBL i know, i liked the change cause i could get a 5-7 year contract for a nice amount and not have to think about it for a couple of weeks while i enjoyed the game
