Lack of basics

Let me start by giving my baseball background. I have been a fan and have watched games for more than 50 years. In the 1980's I was a certified umpire for amateur softball and baseball. I have coached little league. With that said I believe I can say I have a pretty good knowledge of baseball. I have found after this being my 12th year of playing this game that SDS seems to lack basic baseball knowledge. I will explain with this, a SP pitches every 5th game. They have them pitching anytime from 3-8 games between starts, a CP closes games that is why he is called a closer. They have a CP coming in the game in the 5th to 7th inning and/or in a game that is a blowout. This is only 1 or 2 days from his last appearance so it isn't like it has been a while and he needs the work. When a batter squares up a ball and hits a hard line drive it usually ends up being a hit, many time for extra bases but not in this game. Most of the time in this game a hard hit line drive goes right to a fielder for an out. I will also say that in professional ball minor or major league these are players that have been playing for a long time. I have never in real life seen as many infielders get a simple ground ball and bobble it like in this game. I have never seen a 2B when throwing to 1B throw the ball 10 feet over the 1B head and into the dugout or the stands until I played this game. I haven't even seen that in little league. So to SDS I say get your act together or let somebody else create a game that works. One other thing, what the hell is a bat skin? There is no such thing IRL.

Minor leaguers make more fielding errors, in part, due to bad field conditions.
Also, in the minor leagues, they're more focused on development than roles. So, just like spring training. closers will get work in non-save situations and starters won't always go 5-6 innings. The main task is to get their regular work in, not to "win the game".
Also, hard hit balls are often outs. You only get a base hit about a third of the time if you're lucky

The closer coming into the game in early innings or in a blowout is happening in MLB games so your explanation is totally wrong for this game. By the way I know about minor league game because i go to them frequently. There is AA team about 45 minute drive from me. the bobbles I see in this game is more what I have seen in little league than minor league professionals.I did not say SP were not going 5 inning what I said was they go 3-8 days between starts instead of the every 5th game. before you respond try reading first.

Here's a few things I have noticed while playing as a pitcher. As a SP, the team will occasionally make roster moves that result in a player that has a higher overall joining the team (promotion/demotion, trades, injuries, etc.). This sometimes results in my SP or another being moved into the bullpen briefly and then returning to the rotation, so that accounts for the extended length between starts. Also, when you are progressing, if your overall increases or you play exceptionally well, your player may get moved up in the rotation, which changes the length between starts briefly. If this happens consistently over time, then it may be a bug, or an issue with the AI. Regarding the CP, I have had closers where their role is not listed as closer. They are still listed under the closer category but may be classified as MLB/AAA/AA setup or bullpen with another pitcher being classified as the closer. Again, this is usually the result of the overall being lower than another pitcher on the team. That being said, baseball is an ever-evolving sport where roles consistently change (ex. the use of an opener as opposed to a starter). It is also worth noting that this is a video game not real life, so yes, there may be some issues like those you have described, but at the end of the day I am still able to enjoy playing it.

Very nice reply and I understand what you say and you are correct but I don't come on here to bring up something that happens occasionally. This has been happening I would say to about 40% of my pitchers that I have created. When it does I delete and start another one. My reasoning is I created a SP and that is what I want. It is the same as having a position player play well in MLB only to be benched the next season. My experience with this game is once your player gets bullpen or bench it is almost impossible to get your attributes high enough to become a starter.

I've had major league pressbox credentials and lived and gone to multiple minor league games and spring training games, including B games, so my anecdotal knowledge is better than yours
But hey, the closer is the closer because he is the closer. (And you'll earn a brownie point if you recognize the baseball book that's from.)
