Catcher Calling the Pitch

I guess I’m just going to delete this save. My catcher hits well but with a 78 pop and 76 throw I have absolutely no chance to throw out a base stealer. RUINS ALL IMMERSION!

I think its bc of a combination of the pitcher never slide stepping and cpu runner speed being inconsistent. The game dosnt give you an option of making the CPU pitcher slide stepping. On impact plays its only going to do one of two things with a runner on first either bunt or steal and 99 times out of 100 its steal and I forgot if you can even call a pitch out or not during impact. Second cpu running has always been messed up, even playing an outfielder a bounce off the wall vrs a runner with 30 speed gets triples at times and that does not make sense.
I think the AI is just dated, the catcher RTTS is incomplete, and like a list of 5 + other things. The game needs to take a year off and dissect its root code. Of coarse that will never happen =p
Just compare impact plays to full at bat catching, half the stuff dosnt happen at full at bat bc I think the AI Pre-determines what is going to happen during impact and it cannot do it vrs Full game. Catcher I feel and think is too complex for its current AI, wich is sad.
I mean it be great to if you could signal for your pitcher to throw over if you feel the runners lead is too big, they always have a massive lead when they are going to steal.

I haven’t tried calling for a pitcher to throw over. I know on mt 1,2,3,SS I can hold right trigger and select a base to throw to.

i dont think you can on RTTS as catcher, im sorry if you miss understood i was more added that comment for the devs

I put my RTTS catcher on the sideline, I’ll probably end up just deleting him. Because we all know RTTS bugs NEVER get fixed.

At the pace they are going with catcher, will prolly be around 2029 or 30 release. I dont think they are bugs i think its just bad AI and its a root code problem tbh. I played both full game and impact and I can see the diff in how the game thinks ect, features in one and not the other like pitch outs ect. Plays that happen in one and not the other. All wild pitches are missed catches in full game with nothing but bounces off of you and no in the dirts with extreme poor pitching aim where you have to target the other batter box, and there are actual wild pitches and blocked in impact. with 500 other things i can make a list of. Its just a unfinished mess that they will claim to slowly fix, its a shame could be fun. Catcher is just too much for their current code with how the game thinks each at bat.
But it is indeed garbage =p

and the sad part is, they can bandied this problem by putting a catcher pitching slider in the game. would make it tolerable for the next 5 years while they fix one thing at a time.

in RTTS ( not as a catcher ) i noticed base stealing by the CPU was incredibly easy, like players were sliding into 2nd as the catcher was releasing the throw lol had to knock down baserunner steal ability a notch

How far down did you move, I want it realistic not always perfect. That also affects tge player if I’m not mistaken. Although I might be wrong I’ve never modified those sliders.

a notch, so 1, thought about upping infield arm str too to help catchers arm and bunts being OP

Thanks I will try that next time. I always wanted to try a catcher but always got annoyed by this and deleted after the combine.
