Vibration not working on PS5

Regardless of what settings are selected within MLB The Show and the PS5 itself, the controller does not vibrate in game. Vibration works fine in all other games and in the PS5 menus.
Is anyone else having this issue?
SDS: any ideas on how to fix this?

Of course, issue resolved right after posting. What finally worked was logging in a different controller as player 1 while in game and then logging back in with the first controller
