Created players in FA pool

Does anyone know how to get players you create into the free agent pool in Franchise Mode without signing them to a team and releasing them? I just fear that players I create, sign, and drop will retire at the end of whatever season I'm playing.
Also, anyone know where I can find the Japanese free agents coming in this year?
