Suggestion for '26 - Salary Cap mode

Apart from being [censored], one of the big deterrents to me playing online was facing the same old lineups every single game.
Introducing a competitive salary cap mode would give players an alternative competitive mode, and would obviously encourage people to actually craft a team rather than loading it with the same guys.
It would also mean more cards get used, rather than just being collection fodder.
I really hope it's a feature of '26 because if so, it'd be a big incentive for me (and i'm sure others) to venture online more often.

I remember a while back, they would have tournaments where you could use a certain amount of diamonds, golds etc. That wasn't horrible. I think events could be a good landing spot for something like this. Anything is better than what events are now

I actually played online for the first time in months because they put some missions in BR. While I prefer using the cards I earned and not having to pay stubs, BR just plays the best to me out of all the online options.

I never understood why people care what players another person uses.
I do hate randy and John Don, would soon enough just quit.
But I like my own team building within a salary cap restriction and it forces me to use players that I like to use but don't because they're not good enough.

I think it is naïve to think that a meta would not emerge even in a salary cap mode.
I also wonder if the online community is big enough that they would want to segment it which might make it harder to find good matches in either mode.

Agree with this. It would just provide more ammunition for the streamers to create those tier lists and then everyone is using the same team. It may actually make it worse.

One idea to incentivize use of golds and low diamonds in ranked would be like a low risk / high reward system for ranked teams with lower overalls. For example, a player using a diverse team with like 90ovr would rank much faster after a win and take a smaller hit after a loss. A sliding scale based on team ovr could be implemented so that an elite player could shoot up to WS much faster if they're good enough to win with an inferior team.
Another idea is a new multiplayer game mode that combines ranked and BR. Players could create custom teams under BR style restrictions (X amount of high diamonds, X amount of low diamonds, X amount of golds/silvers etc). I feel this would be incredibly fun and would allow players to utilize underrated cards in balanced ranked play.
