Extreme program pxp

The PXP option is there to help you finish the program if you miss few points. It is not there to complete whole program with it. Completing Extreme Program by skipping every single Extreme challenge would be... something

So far ive done 2 games at the "stadium that will remain nameless" in mini seasons.
Scores 70 runs each game, which looks to come out around 6500 pxp each game.
The repeatable extreme stat mission for 40k pxp means comes out to around 7 of these games each 40k. Multiple that by 20 to get 100 program points, thats 140 total mini season games.
If I have my match right lol
Thats INSANITY!!
What's insanity is computing it without the benefit of using a exploitative stadium.
Why not use something to our advantage if we can? Especially if they make it that difficult. I dont have hundreds of hours to grind.
Did you ever stop to think that maybe they put put such a high PXP number on this mission because people who use that stadium have skewed the numbers on how much PXP is a reasonable amount?
Whose to say that next year they don't make it an even higher number because more people finished Extreme using the PXP method this year than they anticipated, not realizing that the majority who finished it that way exploited to do so.
Also, playing in that stadium just does not seem like it would be fun and certainly not for 140 games. Not for three cards that as far as I know are not actually needed for any future content.
Let's also remember SDS' past history with exploits
- Seeing the opponent pitcher before a game - removed entirely
- Bunt cheesers - Nerfed bunting
- Online Check Swing Masters - Nerfed Check Swings for everyone
- Grinding Stats in Spring training mode - Ended because of the Yetis exploit
- Exploitive stadiums in online play - Removed custom stadiums from online play.
They tend to fix exploits with a sledge hammer instead of a scalpel and I fear what impact this will have on Stadium Creator. Will it be fixed or will they just make it even more restrictive?
I believe those 40k PXP (instead of 25k from last year) are there because of double PXP, we did not have those last year if I remember correctly. But yeah, even this might be the reason for it. I can't believe the stadium is still not removed from the game, how hard can it be?

I have been saying it for years that the vaults need to be drastically overhauled. Doing so would make it easier to use, search and even police. There is no reason that I can think of to have hundreds if not thousands of the same stadium or lewd logo in the vault.
If I download a stadium from the vault and never even load it into the Stadium Creator then why do I need to upload a duplicate version of the stadium to the vault before I can use it even for offline play?

@Dolenz_PSN
I am the epitome of the third one. -
Yeah well... im just not good enough to play on HOF difficulty. I was able to finish the DQ but ive tried the showdown so many times and once yout get to al leiter the requirements are just stupid.
And the moments.... wow... I dont know how ANYONE would complete these
-
@MadDogTannen777_XBL
Honestly, I agree. I dont have the time or patience to complete a bunch of the extreme moments. To be honest, I think they were made a little too hard this year. Also, theres not enough ways to get progress. Youve only got the moments, showdown dq and conquest, and the event missions. I would have liked a mini season or missions to give some more opportunities for progress -
You know what will cause them to make things easier next year? Almost nobody finishing (or even attempting) the program this year because it was too hard without enough options.
They want to keep people invested and playing. If the overwhelming majority of their audience never even attempts the Extreme program then it is failing at it's job to keep people playing.
-
@Dolenz_PSN I think this will be a thing regardless. They released it so late in the cycle a lot of players have moved on and why try to finish it when we are almost done with the game? The whole thing is head scratching to me

It was technically released one day earlier than last year's version. But I honestly don't remember the timing in the years before that. It does seem like it was earlier

Making me play conquest on Legend is a surefire way to make me not bother.
But then I've moved on anyway. If this new TA + Inning structure is back next year, I won't be.

@Dolenz_PSN
23 was in August I believe -
As someone who completed 23 and 24 editions of this (My goal is to get to 30 on this year, anything else is bonus that I don't care about), these are my .02 cents.
They should release this around that dead period in late May to early June that's sandwiched between Opening Day and All Star content. You know, that strange period where some of the top cards are 89 Zach Collins and 90 Kyle Farmer. The Extreme 99s should be the second batch of 99s you see during the entire cycle (after Live Series). EDIT: Also, isn't it more extreme to complete these missions/conquests/showdowns before the game is chalk full of 99s?)
Mid October is too late. The majority of the player base has moved on, the remaining players have grinder fatigue but feel like they have to rush through this because a patient approach means acquiring the cards after the player base is even more depleted. Also, stuffing this program with packs seems useless when people already have millions of stubs or can get stubs just flipping a card for up to 20K per transaction.
Online needs more than just a two week event. If they release the program earlier (let's say mid-May), then they could have a monthly one-week event. E.G. Mid-May is a one-week event on G.O.A.T. , June on Legend, then July and August are Hall of Fame. EDIT - They still need more for online players but I'm not sure what since everyone will just ask others to boost stats...
Clean up the moments. If there's a SB moment, then no runners on base before any given at-bat. The RNG is another matter entirely. There's just a lot of stuff that makes a time-consuming process needlessly much longer. If the goal was to increase playing time in the short term, well, it may cost them long term. Some of the "Bad luck" in these moments just baffles me. It has me questioning things as if I'm Alex Jones heh.
That's it for now. Maybe I'm wrong for thinking this but this seems like Extreme Moments is an offline torture mode for people that want to play online with god squads? If you play offline then wouldn't the 99 Clemens, 98 Buxton, and 96 Elly already be solid enough?
-
You forgot taking created players out of DD as well as a nerf.
Another annoying aspect of how hard these Moments are, is Buxton and Carroll seemingly only hit home runs since the cards are so juiced! You have to go 'contact swing/ambush' with Bux because homers come sort of easy in his. Corbin as well. What really stinks, is contact swing without ambush is almost useless! The time we need 'easy' homers is the Kurtz one, lol. I mean, if you can get the 'Crawford boxes' special, it can be possible to beat the Kurtz one. I'll keep trying, because the hitting ones are within reach. It will just take many tries. -

Literally had to start bunting with him toward the end to finish it. EDIT: Make that 5 of 7 (the fifth one on CONTACT swing). I took one more swing on contact and it was flyout to warning track. Turned it off and will play some events later tonight. I'll probably just finish the DQ quest, play some events, and whatever I get from pxp then so be it. Basically just want Buxton.

Says who?
Everyone plays the game differently and everyone has a different skill level.
For some, it'll be cruisy, for others it'll be a huge challenge and for some, PXP will be the only way they can complete the program.
It is excessive, in the extreme for those whose only option is the last one.

I was reacting to people saying that it is too much, I am fine with the option to grind it like that but at the same time I believe it should be excessive. If it was much easier then there would be no point in trying to complete those crazy challenges. (and that's why I said the program was not designed like that, but if you want to grind all 800k to complete it then feel free but that would be something. We are talking about 50+ hours with one specific stadium and 150+ hours without it) I still think this design is better than last year where I played like two mini seasons and completed whole program like that, not touching anything extreme at all. If they made current moments bit easier and released the program earlier then it would be perfect.
Also seems like people forgot that in the past there was no option to grind any PXP and the only option was to complete conquest, showdown and ALL moments. I wonder how would people react to that now, they would have to close this forum for few days haha -
SO, played the DQ first, I'm a card junkie, what can I say? I did it once on Friday, 87% chance on Legend, played got neither of the cards. Did it again last night, got 73% (not sure if that's right), got hit a cycle 2 times, got another hit 1 sac fly, 2 hits and 1 XBH, passed it once failed it once, got Kenley. Now I get to do it one more time. YES!!!!!
-
Based on that, which I agree with, then they have already failed. Most average players have no interest in even attempting the extreme program. In past years I was willing to try a few of the moments and do mini seasons. This year I took one look and said no thanks. I’m sure there are MANY players in that boat with me.
-
Anytime the game caters to the elite minority while crapping on the average/casual majority, it’s not a good thing for the long term health of the game. This year has done more to drive away non elite players than any of the past 4 or 5 years.
-
They royally bummed Extreme Program this year by not including the mini seasons repeatable for vouchers and progression. After Conquest and a few moments last year... I basically just kept doing mini seasons.
