''CHALLENGE FAILED" between PS5 and Nintendo Switch

My son lives with his mother and we were able to play eachother cross platform (me 9s5 him Switch). He has Starlink internet ans I have AT&T internet. We were having no problems until last week and now everytime we try and play online we both keep getting the " CHALLENGE FAILED" Message. We ha e tried everyrhing from restarting the game and consoles, restarting both of our modems, and everyrhing else we can think of. Nothing has worked. Anyone else experiencing this or have any ideas?

There's something up with Switch players only being able to match up with Switch players, it started after the last update

already have the ps5 version and just bought the switch version since it was on sale so my boys could play 1v1. tried for the first time about a week ago and they have never been able to successfully get an exhibition or co-op game going. we tried resetting everything, reinstalling and updating on both platforms, tweaked modem/router settings (DMZ, ports, etc), tried a hardwired network connection. so disappointed that cross play isn't working...
