That's something I've wondered about for years. Is it in effect any time a runner is in scoring position or only in certain situations?

Jose Iglesias has a clutch rating of 95 but he has table setter quirk which says he hits better when no runners are on base. Those two things seem diametrically opposed.

When scouting players for the draft there is no clutch rating on the player card.

I'm wondering just how valuable clutch is. I'm leaning toward in only applies in certain situations and not every time there are risp. Anybody else know for sure?

Perks like day player give slight boost, so hitting both with RISP or no one on base gives him a boost if Clutch > Contact

Clutch applies with nobody on base?

@sullivanspring_MLBTS no, sorry. The clutch rating overtakes the CON rating with a RISP (2B or 3B) for all players. The table setter perk is specific to certain players and only applies with no one on. If you only have a runner on 1st, there’s no boost at all. Sorry for the original wording.

Thanks for the clarification. Does clutch combine with contact or replace contact with RISP?

@sullivanspring_MLBTS replaces it. With the Brewers, Mitchell has a medium PCI size vs RH that goes tiny with RISP (about 35 clutch).

Correction: I was being optimistic; 25 clutch rating!

Great. I use manage mode so I don't see that. I wonder if there is something that impacts power in a similar way. I say that because I use press box view and have fielding shifts set to auto and sometimes the outfield doesn't play deep with a player at the plate who has a high power rating vs the handedness of the pitcher on the mound. Is was thinking perhaps some sort of data entry error but perhaps something impacts power.

I’m not really sure it matters to be frank. Max Muncy has garbage clutch rating and I mash with him in clutch situations.

Second reply to the same post. When a pitcher has a higher clutch rating than your batter does the PCI size shrink?

I use manage mode. No user input. You might be good with the sticks.

That’s just because Muncy’s PWR is high. The hitters with no PWR and a low CLU (CON with RISP) are impacted much more.

    That's interesting.

I'm now placing more value on players with good discipline and clutch in manage mode. Batters take called strike 3 with risp far to often due to low discipline. Clutch replaces contact with risp.

What's really odd and needs to be changed is when scouting pitchers and position players for the draft their clutch rating isn't shown. Obviously a key attribute.
