Different Batters Views / Batting Inputs Must Not Be Allowed In Ranked Games

There's no getting better at a game that's as inconsistent as this game is. I have plenty of games I blow my opponent out... but those are no fun either, because they always disconnect around the 4th or 5th inning. The getting better part is just me switching to the crotch view.

Hmmm, do you come up with excuses much? The game plays the same for everyone. So, no one is at a disadvantage because of how the game plays.

@dap1234567890_PSN You probably think a Juan Pierre card with 125 power would be a good idea. You want MLB Slugfest, I want a simulation experience. This game is trying to ride that line and it's a complete failure. Look at Metacritic user scores. I'm the majority on this, but the people who hate this game aren't fighting for it on the forums like me.
-
@dap1234567890_PSN If it's an excuse, why do people use Strikezone? Think about that. Do they like looking at bulges? What is the reason? It couldn't be that it make[censored]ting easy?
Think out your responses, man. You're firing away at a rapid pace and not doing yourself any favors.
-
@Squid_Adams_MLBTS So did the Dodgers in 2017 but the Astros got to keep their trophy anyway.
-
@Squid_Adams_MLBTS I suppose you have never heard of the 13 cognitive distortions posed by Dr. Aaron Beck. In this thread you are working your way to exhibiting all 13 of them. I am greatly impressed how some one can rack up so many of these cognitive distortions in a single thread. Sounds like all you have are "low IQ" responses full of cognitive distortions.
-
Normally when I lose a game I either play another one or take a break for a while.
-
@Squid_Adams_MLBTS . Let's put it like this you can't force someone to use a certain hitting view or hitting
-
@GoozeFn_PSN Should have never happened. That's when I stopped supporting the MLB. That World Series should be considered null/void and anyone responsible for taking part should be banned from baseball until they die (think Pete Rose) Rob Manfred is one of the worst things to happen to the sport. When something is wrong, I call it out.
-
@dap1234567890_PSN Elaborate on your hypothesis and how I fit each of the 13 cognitive distortions, please. Love that you're trying to make a higher IQ comment, but it just reads as "My community college professor recently told me about this."
-
@theBlindRhino_NSW I was leaning towards selling, but maybe your solution is more rational? Though I imagine, after any kind of break, I'll return to the same broken game I left. I took 4 years off this series hoping for improvements and it only seems to have gotten worse. I guess I should blame the enablers, most of which are in this thread.
-
@sbchamps17_NSW Very true. But I will campaign for SDS to do that. It would go a very long way to making this game consistently playable... and we all know that's true (even if it's tough for many to admit)
-
I think you should sell. Play single player games.
-
@theBlindRhino_NSW Basically what I did in those 4 years I took off lol. But video games are largely a social medium. Sure you can stick to Solitaire all the time, but then you're robbing yourself of the fun you might have had if you played Poker. This game is not completely broken. It CAN be an incredibly fun game. But you have to go through a lot of BS to get to that fun. The adjustments they'd have to make would be so incredibly small, which is why it's so frustrating to see the game in this state.
No one answered my question... maybe because it proves I'm right? If there's no advantage to using Strikezone batter view... then why do people take the time to go to the settings and make that adjustment? Do they like bulges? Or does it give them an advantage?
PS... as a Switch gamer myself... you should not be allowed to play XB or PS players online. Your hardware is far inferior and likely leads to more inconsistencies with how the game performs.
-
@Squid_Adams_MLBTS You can turn off cross play. You can join a league where everyone agrees to play a certain way. To declare that all online play should be restricted to one view and type of play is asinine. Some people use certain methods due to disabilities. So essentially we should get rid of ramps because everyone should be able to walk up stairs. Braille should be outlawed.
I use Strikezone because I like to concentrate on what matters in hitting a video baseball. I use zone hitting because it feels more realistic. I get destroyed in online play sometimes. Sometimes I think I lose to people who are not as good as I am. Sometimes I get lucky.
This whole thread just comes off as extremely myopic. SDS is never going to bend to your will. Nor should they. You are the minority here.
-
I love the freedom to use the setting available to me and everyone you sound very dictatorial
-
@theBlindRhino_NSW I would love to join a league! But then I wouldn't be able to collect cards which is part of the fun. And I'd have to find 29 people who are willing / able to commit to the idea. So not exactly a solution. Didn't know turning off cross-play was an option. Will look to make that change.
Will help you out a little bit though. Asinine means "extremely foolish or stupid." If that's a word you truly believe applies to me, then you're the one who actually fits that definition. I'd accept "insensitive" since I'm not even considering players with disabilities as I believe they are the exception and not the rule... but that's also a lot deeper than the simple suggestion that no one has a leg up on anyone based on settings. Also, I'm sure you realized how dumb your comparison was as soon as you hit enter... but ramps don't give someone a competitive advantage lol (unless whoever walks through the door first gets the open position at a job interview hahaha.) And braille is a tool for used to read and write, so don't know how you lumped that into a ramp / stair analogy.
You don't need a closeup of bulges to concentrate on what matters. I do the exact same thing in default. It's for a competitive advantage, pure and simple. The latter half about you getting destroyed by an opponent, or getting lucky and doing the destroying is called "inconsistency." The game tries to justify its flaws with "that's real baseball," which is fine and all... but then why are 90% of runs in this game coming from homers? That's arcade baseball. We can't have a game that's part simulation and part arcade. Then no one will understand why they destroyed someone or got destroyed. It's all a [censored] shoot. If I want to play a game of chance, I'll go to Vegas.
This thread is necessary and needed to be said. True... they won't do it because they've let their game regress for close to a decade now... but I'm just saying what everyone else who has fallen out of love with this game is thinking. The majority of people on this thread are against me, sure. Most people who spend time on forums are there because they are interested in / enjoy the subject matter presented on the forum. I wish I was easily pleased with inferior products like many of you or simply pretend this game doesn't exist like many people who have given up on the franchise. Perhaps as I continue to grow and improve as a person, I will ultimately leave this game to rot with the people who want it to be as bad as it can be. But as it stands right now, I haven't been able to completely shake the love I once had for baseball... so I will fight for it. This game has all the potential in the world, but right now they're satisfied being Gary Sanchez.
-
@SpcGarza_PSN Punctuation please. I think I understand what you're trying to say... but without proper punctuation, I can't say for certain. Also, please don't dilute the definition of "dictatorial."

MLB The Show MetaCritic User Ratings by Year:
2018- 6.3/10
2019- 7.4/10
2020- 6.8/10
2021- 4.4/10
2022- 5.4/10
2023- 6.3/10
2024- 4.3/10
2025- 5.3/10Must be a very rigorous rating scale... cuz I could swear 5.3's and 4.4's were not a sign of a good game.

Just give up because your not going to win, people have every right to use the settings that THEY want. You do not and will never have the right to tell people what settings they can use
