I've always wanted to know more about this. Which hitter attributes are extremely important, somewhat important, and worthless.

This is my perception, but it could be wrong so that's why I'm asking.

    Extremely Important
    Pow v R
    Pow v L
    Con v R
    Con v L
    Vision

    Somewhat Important
    Clutch

    Worthless
    Discipline
    Durability

I left out bunting because it doesn't apply to most players, but I'm very aware that a player with speed and bunting ability can be huge (see Justin Crawford, Chandler Simpson and PCA).

These aren't numbers but I think the 2 most important attributes for a hitter are stance and swing, there are guys out there with top of the line attributes and no one can hit with them cause of the swing or stance, and then guys that have minor leagues attributes and ppl hit over .400 with a homer ever 5 ABs(even in high difficulties) cause of stance or swing

I'm still using trout in ranked and albies as my 2b because of their swings. I feel like albies is almost impossible not to have perfect timing with his leg kick

Most like lindor but in airways terrible with him

Tucker is another in always bad with

    Hitting attributes that matter.
Power- how hard a ball is hit (in reality actually effects what kind of angle or how often a no doubt animation for a HR will kick in)
Contact- how big you PCI is against pitcher (is affected by pitcher H/9 rating)
    Vision- impoves timing windows
Clutch- takes over for contact while runners in scoring position (supposedly only negates the lesser of the 2 between contact and clutch. If contact higher uses that still if clutch then that)
    Discipline- matter for check swings

Durability- how often and liking the player will get injured (only matters in offline modes RTTS, MTO, and Franchise) should only be used on live series cards because any other series it is just used to skew the rating of the card. This is why a 91 overall Wyatt only has 70 power and contact against both sides but 99 Durability, because it raises the ending overall rating.

My apologies on the Durability tirade, but seriously SDS knows what they are doing when they abuse it.

Oh I'm a HUGE believer in stance and swing. I just didn't include it since it can't be quantified.

But it's #1 for me too.

Interesting. I don't disagree (because I don't know) but I've just heard a lot of people on these message boards rave about vision being so important. And I've heard less people talk about clutch.

Yes and yes. Maybe it's a mind over matter thing...but it's why I always RAKED with Kevin Pillar. His swing looked and felt so natural to use, and I always felt really comfortable using him

@dbub_PSN Clutch replaces contact for both sides with runners in scoring position.

It does not from what I have seen from other posts. SDS's display is lies.

@GoozeFn_PSN yep, there’s players I need to swap out with RISP because their clutch shrinks the PCI compared to Contact.

If you like someone's swing, you basically create their attributes.

Clutch apparently modifies CON, but doesnt replace it. For example, clutch apparently doesnt apply equally to both sides of a R/L split (a guy with a 120/70 split will still have a bigger PCI on one side with RISP)

You should swap yision and clutch because clutch replaces contact with risp, and vision only affects the outer pci size, which isnt as important

@Talkingben9558_XBL Vision also supposedly affects timing windows, which is significant. I still think clutch is more important.

With the amount of hits that I square up but end up as weak contact, I believe vision is huge because of the timing windows. If your hitter has 125 power but 50 vision that "good" timing will end up as a flyout to the warning track. I tell myself this as it is the only explanation for why hitting is broken.
