**Road to the Show in MLB The Show 25 – Outfield is a Snoozefest Now**
-
I’ve been a longtime fan of MLB The Show (since 2006), especially the Road to the Show mode. But after the last few updates in MLB The Show 25, I’ve got to say—playing as an outfielder has become painfully boring. It feels like they’ve stripped all the challenge and variety out of it.
In previous versions, there were more exciting, high-pressure situations—diving catches, wall climbs, bringing back home runs and those tense moments where one mistake misjudging a bounce off the wall could cost your team the game. Now it’s the same few plays over and over. No variety, no thrill—just endless routine ground balls and very few fly balls.
I have one left fielder that played an entire AAA season without a single dive play! WTF!!!!
I used to love the unpredictability and intensity of the outfield role. Now it’s like watching paint dry. What happened to the dynamic, immersive experience?
I've stopped playing until the game is better!Anyone else feeling this?

I know this is an odd question, but I'm one of the other people that has posted a few times about problems with outfield positions in RTTS.
Are you on Xbox? Everyone I've managed to talk to who has had similar issues are all on Xbox.
-
I'm on PS5. I noticed yesterday on a second account that I haven't played since launch, is not effected at all????
All the settings are exactly the same in both accounts! The outfielder on the second account is completely normal.
I played for over an hour and had a few dive catches, wall jumps to rob home runs and standard pop ups/fly balls! Very strange!!! -
I'm so glad I saw this. I saw a post about a lack of showtime opportunities and I feel the same way. I thought 2024 outfield gameplay was perfect is that just me or did you guys have a better experience in a different year? I like this game and I truly hope this is something they can fix I'm not above going back to 2024.

And here we are again

Hey @SDS_JoeK_PSN
Hate to ping, but can we maybe get some visibility on this issue? A bunch of topics on the issue:

https://forums.theshow.com/topic/75733/lack-of-qtes-in-rtts-outfield/3

https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/comments/1k3pmrc/blatant_cheating_by_cpu_part_2/mo7lrw3/If it helps, I've confirmed by talking to other people that the majority (if not all) of these issues are on xbox- though the lack of QTE's seems to be platform agnostic, and the 'same play for every impact play' seems to be for xbox only.

Will pass this onto the team, and appreciate the collection of links! Thanks!

Thank you!

I’m a RF. Every time I’m in the field it’s either a line drive in the gap to the wall or a foul fly ball. There are no routine fly balls, no diving plays, no home runs to rob, nothing.

@Papaboon_MLBTS agreed i now only do infield and pitching because of it
-
@Papaboon_MLBTS I play as a shortstop, not outfield so it might be different, but I played three seasons and never had a popfly hit to me. Only grounders. There is a setting for defense that controls this. I changed from "Impact" to "my plays" and now I see even more grounders and some pop flies. It helps get more XP. There is a third setting for All where you get even more plays but the sim takes much longer. Try that setting.
-
@LQR_NSW I thought that was just my Switch! Every time I go to record or screenshot it says “Unable to take a capture now” for no reason. Once every hundred attempts it might go through, but when I need to capture it doesn’t work.

Imagine how many people are out there that ran into this same problem but didn't bother to go to twitter or the forums to complain about it and just gave up. I hope you guys have found the issue.
Pop flies aren't classed as 'impact plays.' You need to switch from 'impact plays' to 'my plays' to see pop flies on a shortstop- mind you this also adds things like having to go to 2B for steal attempts, and some other minor fielding plays.
This is exactly what I've been talking about in this thread and others. Every outfield position suffers from this. Again, if you want to make it playable, switch 'impact plays' to 'my plays' and that will give you a tiny bit of variety- mostly just fly balls and the occasional throw to third or home.

Conversations on this are ongoing currently, but I'll keep everyone updated as necessary. Thanks!

Oh, excellent! Thank you so much. I really love this game, and this is the only game mode I play (RTTS), so it really means a lot that you all are working to fix everything!
