Theme Teams

Anyone else absolutely stupid enough like me to take theme teams for Team Affinity in to Ranked? I’m playing as the Braves against all Diamond teams. I want to challenge myself to get my guys to P5 but my grey hair is turning grey.

Yes, the Kansas city royals, Pittsburgh Pirates and the Texas Rangers. I usually do very good with them and make it up pretty far into ranked seasons using theme teams. But this year I'm getting beat pretty bad using theme teams with mostly using live series cards with the captain boost and it not even close or even fun using theme teams this year. And the random hitting going on in this year's game is not helping either.

@Dookie-Possum_XBL I am not taking theme teams into ranked (I did use a Dodger one 3-4 times tho) until the end of the game cycle, when more viable options exist … I am talking about real theme teams, not the other ones (short kings etc.) …
Talking about „the other“ … It is awesome, that they did not create captain metas already … the focus is on real theme teams. I use them offline a lot -
@Dookie-Possum_XBL That’s impressive to attempt right now with so few diamonds on Braves! Can remember last year before Olson and Riley dropped from diamond to gold I was using a Buxton Braves hybrid boost. Matzek and Buxton combo would double boost Riley, Olson, Swanson, and others with like 30 power! And do like how can get all team captains right away instead of waiting for packs. I got Biggio just from P5 Wagner the only Astro on my team.

I am a huge Theme Team guy, but have not tried it in ranked this year. When I have time, I do want to try a new concept that I call split squads. There are 20 hitting Captains and 10 pitching captains. More or less, you select one of each and field the best players from each team to get the 2nd bonus from each team. That gives you a little wiggle room with 2 people that are not from each team, and allows you to pick the best players. I have even though about merging the names and using one uniform from each team.
Again, haven't had a chance to play it, but it would be a little easier to attempt compared to straight teams. This year has left theme teams too far behind. Hopefully they add more soon. -
@w1ck3dx24_PSN yeah I got Yankees tier 3 combined with RedSox Tier 1 to give Ted Williams, Varitek, Duran a little boost. Understand now why they nerfed Redsox boost. Didn’t understand at the time but they had yet to release Varitek and the Sox that followed. Do think they will strengthen it back as more cards release. Because thought of trying a Tier 2 Batter captain, Tier 2 Pitcher Captain combo from two teams like you describe.

Gonna have to buy show 24 when goes on sale again. Lost on Gamepass but my favorite boost on there. All diamond defense at every position Switch Hitter team, minus Jeremy Peña Captain at DH combined with Verlander. Bob Gibson OOP Catcher and Mantle getting 1B eligibility made the Diamond defense Switch team. So fun to play.

I blame that KdjTV character…all last year he was whining about the captains and how they shouldn’t be in the game. I wish SDS would stop letting these so called influencers have more input on the game than us.
