Hitting (Rant)

For context, I am 34 years old, married, have a 3 month old son, work full time and travel for work, sometimes 2-3 days at a time. I don't play online anymore, I legitimately just like to play Diamond Dynasty and collect cards. Play with players I watched growing up, relax when I have the time. I have bought and played this game since 2006 on my Playstation 2, every year there are complaints on the hitting or the metrics and every year I have asked, "Am I missing something? Yeah, it's different, but it works."
This year is the first year I have to say this is absolute [censored]. No matter what hitting metric you use, Zone, Directional, Timing. Doesn't matter a "Perfect" middle of the zone RHP batting against a LHH, is a flyout to center, or "Perfect" dead center with a high contact player is a straight line out to 2nd base. Against the COMPUTER, mind you, because I don't have the time or skill to grind out against 20 year old college kids anymore. That's not a knock on them, but it's a fact. I can't compete. The little time I have I don't want to spend grinding out a showdown with players, clearing 2-3 stages just to run into what feels like the game saying "Oh you're doing too well, time to get F**ked."
This isn't realism or part of the game. It's absolutely ridiculous and I regret buying the game. I'm getting old and you have taken the fun out of the game that I used to play with my buddies.
That is all.

I exclusively play DD offline and only on Rookie because I know I’m not great at the game. I mostly struggle with chasing garbage pitches (I’m too impatient and want the get through games fairly quickly).
From my play experience, it feels like certain high power players like LS Trout, Gold Judge, Jolt Muncy mash while anyone with 90 or less power hit wiffel balls that float or dribble for easy outs.
Don’t get me started on the CPU fielding vs my fielders reaction time.

Remember, we're using lower rated cards. So what we experienced last year is different this early in the game.

What difficulty are you on?

I hear ya brother. At 38, I simply don't have the reflexes to adjust to pitches like some of these guys do. I just keyhole in a specific spot and if I get it, great. If I don't, I'll swing if it's close and I might knock a hit through. I play coop with my buddy, and we'll hover around pennant race but that's about it.

I don't know if I hate showdown, it's fun if I'm feeling like dealing with some adversity, and I do find it helps get me back in the "patience" mode of taking pitches etc. I do find that some of the time showdown feels...I dunno, not exactly rigged, but maybe a touch scripted? Like all of a sudden everything I hit seems to be directly at someone, regardless of the timing of the swing (EG late-type contact...only to produce a grounder right into the shifted shifted second baseman, when in reality it should have shot the gap that was exposed.)
It's frustrating for sure, but I still have fun with it

I agree that we are using lower skill cards early on so the hits will be nerfed to an extent. But I’ve played a solid amount of hours grinding, the inconsistency in general is the problem. Prime example using a base Buxton Card a lot of power squared up a fast ball down the middle perfect perfect against an online user I’m pumped up cause the balls flying I think it’s a perfect game tieing bomb, nope fly out to left center. Alright fast forward 1 game, exact same pitch exact same batter perfect perfect… 472ft HR. So my thing is how can one hit be 472ft and one be less then 400. That’s were the inconsistency for me lies.

I'm 69 years old playing on franchise with the San Francisco Giants. I'll played 6 games hitting over .300 with a 6-0 record. Hitting is a [censored] but still realistic and doable. Just know that there are times when the computer is going to dominate you.
