Official Thread for Bugs and issues in Stadium Creator for MLB the Show 25

@PriorFir4383355_XBL I think you're doing the right thing by not creating new ones until they fix it. Some things work, but all of the old bugs are still there. And they managed to throw in some new ones just in case we weren't all p:$$€d off enough!

This below I just sent to SDS in the form of a suggestion ticket:
"Suggestion for Stadium Creator ...
First off, I'm not some teenager locked up in his parent's basement with nothing better to do than write this. Instead, I'm a 61 year old Air Force retiree who is also retired from his post-military civilian employment. In short, I own my home and I'm typing this from my office.
I've also owned and operated an aviation company and so know a thing or two about customer service and balancing the books and meeting payroll. So, let's get honest here.
Four years ago you released Stadium Creator and it was widely praised, rightfully so. But, since then you have largely ignored it. Yes, you added the night lighting option and last year the standing fans, and in the course of time various additional props of different appeal levels.
But, what you have not done is listen to your customers who are actually spending the time designing custom stadiums. And that choice to ignore customers is what I fail to understand.
We want the ability to create realistic stadiums that not only replicate modern ballparks, but can also reach back into history to the 1970's, 1950's, 1920's, and even the original days of baseball where games were played in municipal fairgrounds, polo grounds, and public parks.
To provide that we need a relative few but profound changes to how SC functions, and it's long overdue given the detailed feedback hundreds of good customers have provided to you.
-
Give us the ability to modify the baseline walls in the exact same manner that we can currently modify the outfield walls.
-
Get the bullpens off the baselines, or at the very least, finally give us the ability to place bullpens by making them a prop that can be placed on the field of play or outside it.
-
Make the batters eye props workable in terms of placing standing fans on their concourse decks, and allow us to nudge the stand and concourse props tightly against the edges of them.
-
Allow for home plate distance marks to be added to the wall props so that we can select a wall panel and designate it to show the distance tally to that panel. Also, give us the option to add the standard yellow lines to the top of the outfield walls and extended down from the foul poles.
-
Adopt what are best described as building block props for a straight and curved stand prop that is small, no more than six rows across at the front and six rows deep, but that can snap and group with other stand props to build up stand sections as the customer desires. The curved stand prop should be no more than six seats at front row and eight or nine at rear row, six rows deep.
-
To those two building block props add a simple concrete walkway prop that matches the stair stepped concrete base of the aforementioned stand props, and with that add a simple railing prop that matches the incline and also snaps and groups so that these can be added as needed to finish off a grouped section of seats.
-
Create a new type of prop named "team branding" where the home team's cap logo, team logo, and team nickname can be added to props that can be placed on the backstop, baseline, outfield walls plus on the grass in chosen parts of the park's field of play.
-
Increase the variation and number of concourse props. Create a straight and inclined concourse prop type that is thin and can be used to create realistic entryways integrated with the stands. Add additional texture options for the kinds of stonework used in today's and yesterday's ballparks. Add those additional texture types to the other concourse prop types.
-
Change the current code to allow a roof style prop to be placed over the field of play provided it is above a set height to avoid interference with play. Obviously, this to allow design of retractable roof and domed stadiums.
-
Add numbers to all the existing letter props and design new ones that are smaller to allow more realistic naming within stadiums.
-
Add to the wall prop options a set of advertisements that can be placed on the backstop, baseline, and outfield walls.
You do these simple things, and we your customers will create custom stadiums that will greatly increase the appeal of your game, sell more units, and allow customers to create their own private leagues playing in stadiums from all sorts of historic and current eras, including their own custom teams.
It's time. Listen to your customers and do this!"

Hey folks,
Greatly appreciate this thread as well as the feedback it contains. Keeping this conversation in one place definitely makes things easier.
While we don't currently have any updates or timelines that I can share, I can tell you that the team is taking a good look at Stadium Creator. We'll share any updates that we can as they become available.
As always, we appreciate everyone's patience and support.
-
@SDS_JoeK_PSN While it's disheartening to hear there is no update in the foreseeable future, your response is appreciated. Thank you for that.

In three year's time, this is the most direct feedback I have seen from anyone at SDS. So, from that point of view it is certainly appreciated. I think we all hope it results in something beneficial.
In terms of patience, well, frankly as customers we have shown a great deal of patience. So again, we are hoping the details of our suggestions are put in place soon.
Thanks!

@SDS_JoeK_PSN I honestly don't know what to say to you or your company, but weve all paid over 105.00 for an early version and for this to not work.
I don't know what to say anymore. This hurts.

I think this is the most response we've seen from anyone in the four/five years the creator's been a thing...thank you for acknowledging our section of the community here. We're hoping that at least the most requested ones are being looked at.
Thanks @SDS_JoeK_PSN

@ROTMG88_PSN Totally get it and totally agree.

I would just like to say here that despite how I feel, treat these people with respect. This bread was at least a start. How I feel about all of this is on me and my take. Let's keep this thread going and hopefully see where this goes. I'll find other stuff to get into
-
@SDS_JoeK_PSN I will merely add this. It isn't too late to fix this and do so in time to preserve sufficient goodwill to keep custom stadium creation vibrant and a valuable part of the MLB The Show line. However, I do firmly believe the goodwill is running dry.
For example, I have decided I will not create any custom stadiums within MLB 25 because I simply do not have the creative desire to do so due to the needless constraints placed on my creative options, plus the ongoing horrible bugs that have rendered SC largely unusable.
I cannot say how many other designers with impressive resumes have reached the same conclusion, but I think it is significant. There is time, but I don't think there is a lot of time.
-
I'd love too see all the things people has listed on SC, moveable bullpen, added props like this year the chain link fence would look great in old candlestick park for instance, adding domes the list could go on. But right I'd be happy with it just working not being able to transfer them over or saving them correctly or having a 3 million fan capacity at a high school field. We have so many great Stadium creators out there and there talents being on the side line right now kinda stinks. For myself been creating classic rosters since mlb the show started and when stadium creator was added that was the best new feature I've ever seen, seeing stadiums I grew up seeing on tv so thank you too all you great creators out there you've definitely made my gamin experience so much better!

Another bug I noticed when I made a new stadium in 25 was that I don’t remember when exactly but after an hour or two it starts to get slow and laggy. Enough that it didn’t bother me, but after doing my HR derby test, seeing something I didn’t like, going back to fix it - the mode was A LOT quicker to move around and edit. This was also with 94% memory being used. Hope this bug helps find a solution for SDS

The issue is related to memory, it's true...but the problem is there's things that take up FAR too much memory. For example, if I want to create an empty looking section, I use concourse pieces + benches. The benches take up a ridiculous amount of memory for something so small

The technical reason for this is the overuse of polygons to model the benches with a degree of detail in the many curves of the framing that is overkill when one considers the view distance at which the bench prop would be rendered during the game.
There is a small vending cart style prop that has the same problem.
What this reveals is a lack of ideal managerial oversight in terms of defining poly count caps for the design of individual props, with the goal of ensuring that objects seen at distance will not consume too much memory. It's all a careful balance of maintaining realistic looks in a consumer world that increasingly wants photorealistic presentation while at the same time demanding ideal frame rates, often well beyond the level needed for the human eye.

@SDS_JoeK_PSN I feel totally disheartened by this as well. I'm on Xbox, so to not have this game available on Gamepass for the first time in 4 years, and then to have my favorite mode not working at all after paying $105 is simply inexcusable. It left a sour taste in my mouth which will likely result in me not purchasing the 26 version if there is no fix very soon for SC.At this point I just want the mode to work as it did in 24. Any improvements or additions can wait. I paid for early access so I could complete 2 stadiums I had started in 24 over the weekend before the official launch. It's now April 2 and I can't finish those stadiums, nor build any from scratch. I know some people can still create from scratch, but I cannot save any new stadiums. They just revert to templates every time. I implore SDS to at least offer regular updates, not just here but on their Twitter feed as well, which gets more traffic. Please just acknowledge the issue over there, even if you don't have a fix yet, just as an act of good faith. Many people who enjoy this mode feel left out in the cold.
Anyway, back to the technical issues. Not sure if you've looked into this or not, but I've noticed that any stadium that is not working mistakenly shows the capacity as the elevation. When going back to 24, any new stadium made in 25 does not work in 24 either, also showing the capacity as the elevation. Maybe something got switched around in the code causing this? Of course, then the actual capacity defaults to 50 million-something.

Something I realized tonight after playing in my stadium on RTTS, there were no night games. All sunny day games with no wind. I must've played 10-15 home games, and all were the same. I don't remember this being an issue before.
