My concern about Weekend Leagues

So it starts towards the end of each Ranked Season. And you have to pretty much win 6 games to get the best rewards.
What's to stop goons, who've already made WS that season, tank their records so they can 'mop up' in Weekend Leagues?

The rewards at lower levels looked significantly worse which will probably put a lot of people off tanking. Being as it’s only 6 wins as well, I reckon most ws players will back themselves to get them at any level.

I don’t think tanking for the weekend classic is reasonable at all. The rewards are greatly increased by each division (if the rewards in the premier are relative of what we can expect). You get a ton of packs and It’s just two (may be wrong) player rewards that can be achieved in further weekend leagues which is great, and they are sellable so anyone can buy them off the marketplace.

If SDS is smart, the league you play in will be based on your highest ranked rating during the season, not your current one.

So just to clarify, you only get 6 games for the rewards? So if I go 3-3 ,I'm stuck there with no opportunity to get the higher reward. But then what? Back to regular Ranked or continuing the weekend shindig at a lower rewards with no movement in rating?

After the first 6 games, you get the 6+ reward on the far right. And, I would imagine, your Ranked rating would continue to change.

Ranked Rating is affected during Weekend Classic. Every win after 6 games nets you a pack. There's also a Leaderboard for the Lobby that you get slotted into when you begin that continues to be affected after the first 6 games.

@GradektheBard_PSN Looks like that’s how it works. Sure you could tank and beat up on worse people, but the rewards won’t be as good.

I think the bigger “concern” (and something that affects almost no one) is matching up at the top level. Very few people make that level of ranked and they may struggle to a) find a match and/or b) not play the same people multiple times.

Because in the MLB The Show community, people care about their W/L. No ones gonna lose on purpose to get a few low end rewards. This isnt COD where you tank your K/D for a few games to get matched with casuals and wreck [censored].

6-0 at the diamond level will earn you 75,000 stubs, 50 show packs, 2 weekend classic packs, 15 Ballin is a Habit Packs, 2 mystery rewards (at 4 and 5 wins) and 2 88+ live series packs. Coming first on the leaderboard gets you 100 standard packs and 70,000 stubs
6-0 at the Bronze Level 1 earns you 8,000 stubs, 5 show packs, 1 headline pack, 3 Ballin is a habit packs, and a Pipeline pack. Coming in first in the leaderboard at that level only gets you 10 standard packs and no stubs.
There may be a sweet spot to tank your rating down to but it is not too beneficial to tank it too badly.

What's to stop goons??? Nothing. Nothing can or will stop a goon. Goons are gonna goon, and that's just how it's always been. It's a goon's world, and we're all just living in it. All us mere mortals miss 100% of the shots we don't take, but goons still somehow are shooting like 70-75% on shots they don't take. And while, yes, it is true that an ungooned life is not worth gooning, it is also goon that all goon and no goon makes goon a goon goon.
I have always depended on the goonness of goons. But never forget: all that glitters is not goon.
I solemnly swear that I am up to no goon.

The higher you are in ranked you can play in the higher league for that Weekend and get better rewards... if someone opts to "goon" this year they are doing themselves a disservice when that weekend comes... I would call them the "p" word but I'mma chill!
