OP speed/stealing?
-
To make a long story short, I am on a rotation of every-other year with this game, so I really haven’t given this much thought before now.
I’m also not sure if this is a dumb question (my specialty) or has been asked and answered many many many times. So, apologies in advance. Is there a reason why speed and stealing aren’t/can’t be overpowered like the batting stats? Like why wouldn’t Rickey, and sure Lou Brock, have a 125 steal rating? I’m just curious like a cat, that’s why my friends call me whiskers…
In closing, it’s Saturday night my dudes, and them daddy sodas are going down smooth!

@chekmate_13_PSN Id be satisfied with an elite jump quirk or something like that.
-
yea I've often wondered why some thresholds are higher for certain stats as well.
-
Or, do something about the great jump your runner gets only to have the game lag and get thrown out by 20 steps
-
99/99 is already pretty open against the CPU but I don't know how that translates to online
-
If you time ur lead step with the pitcher lifting his leg and you already told ur guy to steal he’ll get a great jump every time. So it’s not a stat, it’s a know how thing like the other years

I lost a showdown once because the CPU randomly picked off a 99/99 guy. I didnt play the game for a few days after that.
my experience with online is pop time will get 99/99 out somewhat often, but without pop time its going to take a pitch out

@chekmate_13_PSN it's a solid question for sure.

Every. Single. Time. the CPU throws over to first for that initial check, it frees you up to steal the base no matter the circumstances. (Assuming you've got a base stealer on.)
The CPU has NEVER thrown twice to any base on me. It's why I was able to get the Ohtani 50/50 done so quickly.
Just a small pro tip in case nobody has mentioned it here in the boards.

Playing against the Nationals on Play vs CPU was how I finished the Ohtani stat mission super fast. I went through all 30 teams and found the catcher with the worst combination of strength and accuracy, and Keibert Ruiz is by far the worst starting LS catcher in those attributes. I loaded up a lineup with nothing but 99/99 dudes, even throwing some of them out of position (with the exception of Biggio at C) because who cares. Then I played all games at Coors so no line drives would sneak over the fence. Just hit lots of singles, steal twice, and then move on to the next dude. I almost never steal bases so I thought stealing 50 would be a huge drag. It took almost no time at all.
