SDS You have made this game very boring!!!
-
@Dolenz_PSN I’m not attempting to define it either. All I’m saying is that you can efficiently grind and get most of the cards you need if that’s your goal. I finished this TA in about 6 hours and the whole xp path in less than 2 days. Not sure how many hours that was exactly, but it shows that even a casual player, regardless of how you define it, can finish it before 3.2. If you don’t want to grind efficiently, than that’s your decision, but it’s hard for me to be sympathetic to complaining about not being able to get cards when it’s so much easier than years past, and even just the last 2 seasons.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN Well, the first part of season 3 is the easiest one so far so that is a hard one to judge.
The fact that season 3 seems easier than season 2 and that season 2 was easier than season 1 means that SDS is making adjustments. I can only assume they are doing so because a lot of gamers were not reaching the goals. I can't believe they would do so otherwise.
Shoot I probably spent 6 hours or more on just the TA conquest which gave me a ton of points but I still have 5 divisions to finish.
-
I just got Hank Aaron so I'm excited to now just play and spin the wheel alot before part 2 comes out
-
@Dolenz_PSN And that’s what I mean by being efficient. It also took me about 6 hours to do the conquest. Before I started, I did the exchanges and enough moments to get the first pack in each division, so I could use those cards while doing the conquest. By the time I finished the conquest, everything was done.
-
It does make some sense to streamline the programs later in the game cycle. I just wish they added more for people to do after the bosses or something. Even some packs from previous seasons or maybe a season 1 showdown that gives you a season 1 vault pack, so people had a way to get those cards like they did in season 2.

No. The ridiculously short XP path this season screams pure laziness.
I can't imagine a high percentage of people that actually care about the game want LESS content. I don't think the casuals would be loud enough complaining there's too much to do to get the best cards.
But this lack of content is much more likely to cause players to lose interest and switch to different games.

Haven't logged in since Thursday if that means anything. Usually play daily. Just havent felt like playing. Think part of it is football season has started so watching games all weekend etc but haven’t had any desire to play either. OOP cards didn't help.

XP path isnt content. Its a battle pass.
Conquest maps, mini seasons, showdowns...thats content. Ranked/BR/Events is content. Programs are the driver of the content.
The offline content cycle is about using conquest and mini season to complete programs or get cards.
So when there are no programs and the ms/conquest only have generic pack rewards the desire to play those is lessened.Online doesnt quite fit, because you want the cards to improve your team but using online to complete programs puts people at a disadvantage. So SDS has cut a ton of content this year for the sake of making it easier for online players. And on top of that they have likely tripled the number of shop packs this year while slashing the non pack cards by over half.
So even though the online players can now complete programs in an hour, or TA in 6, they arent in a better place than last year because so many of the cards are behind packs.
So in the end, offline players (which from past polls suggest is the majority) get significantly less content, and online players dont even benefit from the faster completion. And no one wins.

Hopefully SDS is not listening to people at the extreme ends of spectrum on either side (those who play a ton and those who play a little).
They have data. They should know how long it took and many people have completed the XP path, TA, TA Conquest Map, Mini seasons, Programs, Ranked, Events, BR, etc. They should use that data and their expectations and adjust accordingly.
And since I seem to be the one playing devil's advocate for the casuals in this thread I will say that I am not actually asking for less content. I am simply trying to see the subject from the perspective of the player who can put an hour or so in a day due to other life demands. Who may not be able to take advantage of Double Xp weekends.

Just be careful how the data is used.
Its perfectly ok to have a program that only 10% or less of players complete. Just dont make it feel like people are missing out too badly for not doing it. Repeatable mini seasons from last year was a good example. I did those multiple times to get all the cards, and I loved it. People that didnt want to do it could cheaply buy the cards, or just ignore them because they werent meta cards.
The problem with the Father's Day program last year was that it felt for many players like it was a grind for collection fodder. People felt compelled to do it for the collection. I personally liked the program, even with some not super exciting rewards. It was fun having the father/son duos. but I did it because I wanted to and not because it was a 'meta' thing to do it for collection fodder for earliest possible collection completion (that can tie into the casual vs non casual conversation as well). But that program pretty much singlehandedly ruined 24 for me. SDS overreacted in a comically absurd way and went to the tiny program for low effort model.
When you improve life for one set of players it should never be at the expense of another group, but that is exactly what SDS did with the massive program cutting
And the program cutting on its own would be fine if they added other content elsewhere, but they reduced miniseasons as well and conquest has been pretty rare since city connect ended
Topps Now and Season Awards alone could provide near endless offline content. Sure, a large part of the player base wouldnt engage with it and thats ok. Putting out a few more TN cards and slapping them in a 15 team repeatable conquest I would imagine isnt a lot of effort.

Then those players won't get the best cards. Simple as that.
In life you need to be prepared to either:
A. Work your a$$ off (so grinding/flipping)
B. Pay for what you want (so buying stubs)There is no choice C (no grinding, no paying, just being handed easy to obtain cards)
And dolenz, this isn't about you. You've made it clear that you don't care about getting the best cards (unless they're Cardinals ).

@NOWLTZKI_MLBTS no matter how long it takes, The only content has been TA and Weekly awards/topps now....where are the other programs like they had earlier in the year? Like a OOP madness program, or more Hall of Fame programs and the always loved "Extreme" programs. (I say that mildly tongue in cheek....those moments suck lol)
just saw they have a few programs this week....but none the last several unfortunately

The longest program of the year was a launch program and it was only 7 cards
While I realize the mets have gotten a fair bit of cards, none of the following have pitching cards for the mets but have either been notable historically or in recent years:
Pedro, Johan, Leiter, Bassit, Stroman, Walker
This would have been a perfect year to give a Lugo relief card with him breaking out as a starter.
Saberhagen? Ryan?
I'm sure other teams also have lots of examples of players who had good recent years, or historical years, that arent represented yet. So its not like they dont have potential cards to fill programs.
The small legend roster is bad, but they don't even fully use them.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN only problem with that is if you’re not very skilled, no matter how much you play you won’t get all the best cards. Which is one of my grieves. I am not that good a player. So I won’t get the biggest top level cards.
-
@beatlesnews_PSN That’s simply not true. The best cards are in the xp path and collections, neither of which require skill. Any card you can’t earn, you can buy with stubs.
-
Skill really matters most online for some of those rewards.
I do believe that anyone can get to the Season Bosses, although skill can make a difference in how long it takes. If Player A can gain 2000 gameplay xp per game and Player B only earns 1000 then Person B will end up having to play many more hours for the same rewards.
Collections are a little different. Many of the collections are going to require the player to buy players using stubs. I still need 95 S1 cards in order to earn all 3 collection packs. I have all the TA cards but 2 and completed every program except Egg Hunt. That is only 7 cards that I can still earn by playing and I am not sure if Egg Hunt is even still doable.
The live series requires about 500K stubs just to get the 5 or 6 of the hardest to get cards. While stubs are easier to come by this year that is still a significant investment to earn that many.
-
@Dolenz_PSN Skill does matter, but anyone can get those rewards by completing the missions in online program paths. Yes, it will take longer. It will also likely make you a better player.

Depends on what you need for the Egg Hunt program

I don't need it for anything. I was simply pointing out that there was no way for me to get to S1 Collection bosses right now other than, I assume, a sizable outlay of stubs since I still would need buy over 80 more cards to earn all three.
