*TA Extreme Moments/Showdown*
-
Did anyone here gives these a shot? I was able to complete all of the Moments, but a few took way longer than expected.
Most of them were pretty annoying, but nothing too brutal. I got fortunate with a few cheap doubles using Tori Hunter otherwise that would have taken me way long since I am not good with his swing. The one for Mike Lowell also took a while mainly because Old Miami had some deep dimensions in center field.
The Ralph Kiner mission - get on base four time - was the worst for me. It seemed like one of the easier ones on paper, but I just felt like it was cursed because I either kept choking on the last at-bat or the defense would make a spectacular play. Took over an hour and I finally completed it with an awful swing that blooped into the outfield.
I tried the Extreme Showdown a few times for fun, but kept getting stumped by Maddux. There are so many easy ways to make progress in TA through repeatable PXP missions that I might just spare myself the headache and skip it altogether.
-
The past extreme showdowns have been fine
I took one crack at this one. Got to maddux. First pitch, line out to second for a double play. Third pitch ground ball double play. In all I had 5 double plays. I havent taken a second try yet
I really dont understand why they didn't do a repeat of last round TA where you can get the first card each division in your hands quickly. This feels like the slowest round in a while and there is only limited time to use these for most content.
-
I beat all Extreme Moments but the Kiner and Torii Hunter ones. Kiner's is so frustrating, but I'll get it. Hunter's is basically hit 3 homers. I should beat it soon, but don't need to, just want to. I use these Extreme Moments as BP on HOF,tbh to see if I could 'hang' on HOF if I ever tried RS or BR!
-
It’s not really worth if you’re not a really good player now that TA is so easy to complete. I was doing the extreme showdowns before the previous TA, but they were sweaty for my skill level. Just not necessary unless it’s easy for you IMO.

Just curious, what was different about last season?
The first pack is at 60K just like the last one. This time you can get 25% of the way to the first card just doing normal moments.
I did the moments and I believe two Rookie Games at Costco with my Cardinals Theme Team and earned the first two packs. Plus I am only 5k away from the 3rd.
I got 35K for 100 total bases (finished in about a game and a half).
10K for 10 HRs which I did in both games for 20K
10K for 25 hits which I did in both games for 20K
10K for 15 Ks which I did in both games for 20KThat is 95k plus 15K for Moments and that is 110K
I also got another 15K somehow but I don't remember how. And That was just a couple short sessions on Friday. I did not play at all yesterday.
The 35K for 100 total bases with a team is probably the fastest way to advance. Stack your lineup with one team and play at a cheesy short stadium like costco. Do that with the different teams and you will probably get there quickly since you will also get the repeatable 10K XP for the HRs, Hits, and Ks missions
-
Completely agree. The fact they sped up the last one and slowed this one down makes no sense at all.
-
@TripleH-4481_PSN Doesn’t seemed slowed down. What changed? I had a card from each division without playing a game from the exchanges.
-
I don't do moments in TA or exchanges. I actually prefer a slow grind so this is perfect for me at least. People have their own way of doing it and that's fine
-
I wonder if they even plan on releasing an Extreme program this year? They have already been incorporating those Moments/Showdowns throughout TA.

I play on All Star mostly and never in a created stadium. So 100 TB takes a long while.
2.2 had missions like 'get 1k with a Brave' designed to get the cards into your hand fast, even if you play to your skill level.
I get its tough for them to design stuff for all skill levels, but I feel I should be more closely rewarded for playing 3-2 games at my skill level compared to someone playing HR derby at costco.
The saves missions helped a little with this but now those are gone.
-
I get that but I kind of appreciate them just not rolling out the same exact mission for every instance of Team Affinity all year long. People like to say SDS are lazy and phoning it in but at least in this instance they are at least mixing things up a little.
But as I always say they are never going to roll out a program that satisfies everyone.

I’ve recently downloaded “Costco Field” after reading about it here for a couple of seasons. Holy cow!!!
Two games with Orioles (and the team captains) on Rookie and Burnes pitching and WOW(!!!), 65% done on TA 3 AL East. A couple of player exchanges later and DONE!
Not only do I like shopping at Costco, I now love hitting there as well.
Firing up a Braves theme team now…..
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS if you’re grinding on all star you’re a moron.

It's cheesy as all get out to be sure but if you need to grind things like total bases and PXP it will make it easier.

The best option shouldn't be to put the game on easy and download something to cheese the game system.
That's trash game design -

I am pretty sure there is no "best option" that will please everyone. Your best way would simply be somebody else's excuse to complain. In fact, if the game forced me to get 100 TB on All-Star or above then I believe I would already be done with the game completely this year. I just don't want to spend that much time to earn a few cards with expiration dates.
These cards we are trying to earn will be mostly useless in 25 days . I don't want it to take 20 days simply to unlock the few that I want use. As it is, we were given about 4 days for each division to complete them all before the next batch comes out. That doesn't take into account time needed for Season Award drops and other programs between now and then.

"Its ok that this season is 10x slower than 2.2 for your playstyle because I am fine and you should just play in costco on rookie"
I thought you were better than this. I guess not.

If memory serves, extreme was a September or October release in previous years.

But can't we also flip that around and say that you want everyone else to play the game and do the missions in a way that best fits your playstyle?
I am not saying that one way is better than the other. Simply that there is no blueprint for these programs that will make everyone happy. I like moments. I was happy to see them included this time around. Others hate moments and wish they would be removed from the game entirely.

I play the CPU on All Star or above for program progress, because sometimes after putting all of that work in to unlock cards, I like to take them into Events or Ranked. I don’t like switching between difficulties. I don’t think that is a moronic way to play.
