Post season roster issue

I had a player who was injured to start the post season. He came off the IL mid series and I got a message that said he can be added between series. I win the first series and try to add him and it keeps saying he’s not on the 40 man (but he is) and I need to first add him there. The problem is I can’t find the option to add to 40 man in the post season. I tried dropping a player off the playoff roster to add him, but it says I have to add a player before removing one. Anyone else have this happen?
