Community continues to slide into toxicity

I am by no means an elite player in ranked. However, I can't help but laugh at the lengths someone will go to win a game. I came up against a player yesterday and he was pulling out all the stops.
Target Field in the middle of the day, check. Bunt spamming with a team full of speedsters, check. Pausing every single pitch, check. I should of immediately quit. Anyway, long story short. He gets up 1 to 0 at the top of the 4th inning by finally getting away with a crappy bunt single my fielder bobbles the ball on. He pauses again and sends me a friendly message to "Get gud" and "I'm gonna bunt in a mercy win on you". I get up to bat in the bottom of the 4th. I start with a single and then steal second. He then proceeds to throw 8 straight dirt balls and walks the next two batters. Bases loaded. He finally comes back in the zone with a high 102 heater. I perfect perfect it with Core Bryce Harper and it is a no doubter off the bat. He instantly disconnects. Sigh.
To make it worse he messages again. This time I get the "You got lucky and you suck a big bag of d***s at this game".
I mean seriously. What is with the growing toxicity? Aren't games supposed to be fun people?
I'd like to hear some others stories. Please rant away. LOL

Just report his messages. He won't be able to play like a little sheet for a bit.
-
It was probably some 13 yr old kid - I would just take the L and move on.

First of all, who came up with the 'big bag of diks' term? Does someone gather a few together, nuts still attached, and flails away with their mouff in the bag?
Asking for a friend. -

It's not just MLB it's all of gaming really, playing online games has become the absolute worst thing ever.
-
More than likely he's being bullied and is taking it out on you . You should have responded " are you ok? , are you being bullied at school/work/home . It's ok you can tell me "
Lol. -
I reported an opponent to sony after a comment and he got banned for a week. You should try that.
-
Sounds like a sad person. you can tell when you're about to get dashboarded as they do the things you said he did, prior. it's a societal problem.
-
He didn't get smacked enough as a kid by the parents. They probably enabled him to do things like this.
-
I’ve seen more inappropriate logos and created stadiums. Played a guy that had a plane crashing into buildings.

You have a chance to clean the community a little bit by reporting his messages, these type of clowns need to get banned. This person didn’t even care if a kid was on the other side reading his profanity.

I just played a very toxic person. Its bad.
-
The online mode in this game is by far the worst multiplayer sports game on the market I have no clue why people continue to play it.
-
@grimmdogg23_PSN
Unfortunately, it's always been that way... This is an online issue. The best way to avoid the toxicity in this game is to keep climbing the leaderboard. While not always perfect, it's better than living in the dungeon known as All-Star hel l. -

Lol. You have event games in your game log from today. Literally today.

@BJDUBBYAH_PSN
Hey question for you sir. Why does my universal profile not show anything beyond my '16 and '17 years? I played a fair amount of RS games since then, and there is no record of that.... which I can see? -

This is why I stopped playing online. I play the game to have fun. Dealing with that stuff is not fun.
