Just curious, what do you get out of only playing offline? If i only played offline i'd lose my mind. Is it just time preference or anxiety to play online against others, whatevr it is, I strongly encourage offline players to play the BR program, it helps with TA's and you also unlock several diamonds on the way up. I went from 233 cards friday, to 274 cards collected in one weekend.
I don't like the 'win at any cost' some players display. My first Event game was against someone that had a Ranked record of 125 and 15, or so, and sported a 20x Flawless banner.
Naturally they picked Shippet and proceeded to throw low in the zone, practically in the dirt, u til they realized I would swing. Then the FIRST thing they did , when they were up to AB, was hold R2. The did that after EVERY pitch. Then one they got someone on base, not only did they hold R2, they took an extra step. Knowing that I could only step off twice, without getting a penalty, it was a combo of RS spamming and taking extra steps. After they did this for the third consecutive batter, to load the bases, I purposely hung a curve, and dashboarded before the hr even left their bat.
I don't have time to play children.

@nflman2033 Because, and this is my opinion grinding against the CPU on rookie, doing the bare min. shouldnt net you as much progress as someone that goes out and grinds online against others. It's hard at times online then just loading up and slugging away on rookie.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X so you let someone get under your skin in a video game and then dash boarded causing you more time to reload? And are they supposed to throw it down the middle? I hate snore pitching as much as the next guy
-
@chucky97___ Yes. However. If you make a storyline, you need to actually do work. You should be able to play as Derek Jeter in a road to the show or BETTER mode.
I always say SDS isn't a game developer as much as marketers making a baseball simulator.
A game dev would make a POV Derek Jeter story mode with character upgrades and progression just like your standard video game. You walk around as Jeter. You run into other legends in the game and interact with them with missions or quests.
Shoot all they really need to do is make moments more in depth. They don't have to be a grind just make them more entertaining, harder, rewarding. They could DRASTICALLY improve RTTS this way it's wild they haven't taken all this money and done that already. Maybe Shohei's interpretor got SDS owner into some trouble..... -

But again why do you care how I play my game?

@theBlindRhino lol y'all funny
-
@chucky97___ i agree 100%. Its like anything in life do what you want to do. However if i'm working harder or doing a harder job, i should be rewarded more than the guy who didn't.
-
@nflman2033 I dont, but I am saying, there is a lot of people upset at the new TA missions, I hated the chnages to but understand, would you agree these changes are fair?
-
@AdeptOfMemory all of that stuff you mentioned, is not possible till they ditch the old gen consoles behind, would be super cool tho.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X you're right you shouldnt play online. i dont want to play bad players who dashboard because the game doesnt go their way.

I have 0 problems with the amount of grinding for TA3. In my opinion I finished TA1 and TA2 too fast.
But I also understand I sm in the minority for DD players.
-
@LIONED-33 this is what I am trying to say, from the general observations of this thread, its the same ans. " I dont like to sweat, I just like play at my pace" okay, then you will be rewarded as such, being upset online gets more progress faster should be justified.
-
@chucky97___ Yeah I get your point but my question is, do you really have that faith in them to do that when or if it is next gen only?

I just enjoy the experience more. Many reasons have been stated here already.
I can pause without annoying my opponent.
The CPU won't quit mid homerun.
The CPU won't quit when losing
The CPU won't use bunt cheese
The CPU won't use R2 spam.
The CPU won't disconnect their controller and try to see if I will accept the quit message. As an old man at this point I have just never felt the need to compete against or compare myself to other gamers. It is probably also why I don't care about trophies or achievements.
There is no way I can play online now with the current disengagement rules. I felt like people online ran entirely too much before, now there is nothing to stop people from taking 2nd easily.
-
I bought the game last year at half price, and the year before that for $10, and found the moments, showdowns, and other missions to be a rewarding challenge. Then I buy the game at full price, and, of course, there's no game content this year.
Similar thing, I bought Madden 23 at half off, and played offline, but started playing online as I got better. The issue being that football has a lot of strategy you can employ, while MLB the Show seems to be almost entirely skill and I'm still just have less than good plate vision and can't do precision movements with the thumb sticks.

@chucky97___ I agree with this BUUUUUTTTTT if other competitive video games with more complex systems can be more balanced then so can this game. Most games with gear have an item score and a MMR. If your item score is 157 you're not going to be matched against a 375. Numbers were arbitrary to express point.
They have simple two ways of matchmaking already: Input difficulty and MMR. Honestly drop input difficulty altogether and make it one universal speed online. Offline should adjustable.
Item rating would be FAR better of a measurement than input timing. -
@AdeptOfMemory Skill based matchmaking ruins games, keep it out of MLB, its ruined to many games I once loved.
-
@nflman2033 trick, when someone takes a step, hold your L2, till it shows you are looking the runner, then throw over.
-
@AdeptOfMemory I dont know honestly, NCAA has to be good, if NCAA is a carbin copy of the old games, then mlb is in trouble, a new hot sports game will push companies to star performing.

I mostly play offline unless I have completed TA and SA programs and then play some online. To make significant progress in the programs it seems best to choose either off or online and I have limited time to spend playing.
In general, I find online opponents to be well above my skill level or annoying (spamming R2 and other bs) or both.
For offline, given my abilities, I find playing at All-Star and sometimes HOF to be a challenge, fun and more enjoyable than online games.
I also play OOTP which has a nice off/online combination. Build a team offline and see how they do in simulation leagues against other human teams.
