Why SDS hates offline players?
-
@Doctor-Fauci910 The changes being made had players like cbrev (WS / top 50 capable) spamming win and W in the twitch chat when they were visible on screen yesterday. I understand parasocial relationships are hard for some people but I’m not quite sure why you think cbrev would be against changes that cater specifically to players like him at the expense of the majority.
To be clear, I’m not saying he’s responsible for them. We have no idea who worked on what when it comes to the live content team. But cbrev and 99% of content creators are in the top 5% of the player base. They generally don’t even understand what it’s like to be in the bottom ~75%, let alone represent those people’s interests. The changes that are happening this year are consistent with what many of them have asked for (outside of the BR rewards being randomized), although they typically pretend they didn’t ask for them once SDS does it and it’s unpopular.

Seems really poorly thought out, considering there is only 4 weeks to complete TA 3, before it's locked off to everything but Live series, Core cards and Wild Card slots. So, anything that doesn't get done in time will be a slow drip, made even harder by the fact that you can't do the individual missions with cards you don't have.
Also, having 5 moments was a nice way to get a feel for what cards you wanted to pick first.
And since I'm complaining, the unlockables packs stink. TA 1, a uniform, TA 2, an icon, TA 3 a sound. Wow. Really can't create anything extra? Just take the 3 things we'd get in a single pack and split them up? Low effort.Yeah they should really just be throwing these cards at us, it is going to take probably 2-3 weeks of grinding for a lot of people, to hopefully get to their first S1 collection card, and then it's S2 and it starts all over. I honestly don't think anyone is going to be playing this game by then. We have now had like half of a year's worth of Team Affinity grinding to do and we're going to have to do it all again and start over with nothing left but a few core cards and one wild card
You still need to spend stubs for that first S1 card, even with this TA drop. I spent about 100-150K buying up all the sub 10K cards I could over the past couple weeks so that I could get one of these cards in relatively short order (based on the two previous TA drops) to maximize the time I could actually use the cards.
The other day I realized I would still be 15 cards short (with the season awards drops) and would need to drop another 100-150K to buy up the remaining cards. Of course, this assumed I could complete this TA drop in my usual 7-9 day span which I thought possible until I saw the changes they made.
So by the time I complete this TA drop and another season awards drop I will have probably less than 10 days to use the card.
I'm honestly fine with having to drop 100-200K to buy up additional cards to get a card faster but, as it turns out, I won't even be able to do that now.
I was hopefully the first 6-8 weeks were just a feeling out process for SDS to figure out the sweet spot for content but yesterday really showed me their thought process. I have 3M stubs and will buy cards I want to use until those stubs are gone or I am tired of the game (I mostly play coop with a friend) but I am done grinding. S1 has proven there is no reason to because the cards will barely be able to use the cards you are actually grinding for.
SDS, if this is the setup next year then I am done buying the game. I'd sooner take the $130 CDN or whatever it is and light it on fire than support what you guys are doing.

@RealPudgyPanda I didn't see CBrev saying anything in a chat, if he did I guess I take it back? But he has always made youtube videos about building a team without spending money, as well as teaching people how to improve at the game. I have to imagine he knows that these changes hurt free to play players, and probably advocated against it. could be wrong though

I was looking forward today, but only feeling now is disappointment, poor job SDS, I don't think I will make it even into Season 2 this year
When I read the TA3 offline requirements, I thought "what in the world???". It's so fragmented and random. Ick.

I just scored almost 30 runs against the CPU, and barely made any progress. Full AL East TA lineup and I didn't even get the 1500 PXP. Other teams have pitchers so they will be quicker, but still ridiculous.
The conquest save mission might be the most egregious. No TA progress at all outside of PXP with pitchers in conquest unless you purposefully stop scoring runs at 4, so holding you back in other missions just to get a save. Really really bad design.

Yeah, I usually ignore the save missions as they are completely opposite to the offensive missions. If you choose to pursue the save missions then you have to ignore the offensive missions and vice versa.

@Dolenz64 Bold of you to assume they hear/listen to the players let alone react to them.
-
@Dolenz Same, but now we just don't get anything but PXP when pitching in conquest. This is one of the most tone deaf content drops I can remember. I keep coming here to comment about it because it is truly mind blowing

I look at it this way … with the 99’s in TA3. They aren’t just going to give them away. You’re going to have to earn them. So Challenge accepted!!
-
I feel same way. I opened a thread talking about this without knowing this was here as well. Game sucks like this. I’m Very mad about this.
-
I don’t disagree with what has been said here, I was disappointed by how the offline missions were split up into the 3 modes as well… however I do want to maybe clarify something: most of you are complaining that you won’t be able to use these cards anymore in a few weeks but you’re also claiming to not play online, is that correct? Because my understanding is that S1 cards will still be able to be used for offline modes once S2 begins, so these cards will only not be useable for playing in modes that you seemingly aren’t interested in anyway.
Yes it still sucks it will take several weeks to get all the cards, but you will get to use them still if you don’t play online, so hopefully everyone can still have fun despite these dumb changes and hopefully they still make changes for the next season
-
Makes zero sense why they would make this TA harder to grind when all the cards expire in a month anyways. This year is such a failure, this game will be completely dead once s2 starts
-
I understand that they are 99s, they should be hard to get, but when you a time limit on use, my time to grind these cards isn’t as much when I have a full time job and other things, so when I do get these cards and can’t use them because the season ends in a week, that’s the issue.

Not entirely correct. While you can indeed use for some offline content they won't be able to be used for all. You'll b able to play vs CPU, run the US conquest map or the default Mini Season but the cards will not be earning you progress in the vast majority of the season 2 missions.
New season 2 missions, conquests, TA, Mini Seasons, and probably something that I am forgetting will be limited to only cards from season 2 (and wildcards).

I see, thanks for clarifying!

@Dolenz I was going to say the same thing. Only way to navigate both S1 and S2 without restriction should be a team of Core cards - just make sure they're not free agents.
-
What, so 30 hits in Play vs CPU for a whopping 2500 XP doesn't sound reasonable to you?
-
@SchnauzerFace is this sarcasm? I really can't tell. There's a cap on XP and 2500 for a grind suuuuuuuuuucccccccckkkkkkksssssssss you would be better of getting mercied in the 7th inning on ranked. Literally. You'd get more XP
-
@AdeptOfMemory
Yes, I am being sarcastic. And I'm not talking about the main program XP, I'm talking abut the TA Season 3 XP for each division.
The new TA Season 3 program makes no sense. You get 10,000 XP for getting 10 Total Bases with a boss, or with just 5 Strikeouts from a boss... but you only get 2,500 XP for THIRTY base hits in Play vs CPU? That's insane! I keep thinking that they're going to announce that it's a typo. You get more program points for moments that take like 30 seconds than you get for having to rack up 30 base hits in Play vs CPU. Makes no sense at all.
And the hosts on the live stream kept saying "we just want you to be able to play the game how you want to play!" but then they unveil this new TA progression that does the exact opposite of that. "Play how you want to play, but only in the modes that we tell you to play in."
-
I looked at the TA3 program and I'm like I'm not doing all this. I'm like what's the point anymore to play this game. I feel like doing all these missions and programs counts for nothing. I've been playing DD since 17 and most of the cards to earn are old cards or repeats from previous years. No excitement getting Kerry Wood for the 6th year in a row. Maybe I need to take a break or take a few years off from this game. Offline feels more like a job than fun.
