Why can’t I leave my team

Hello I have concerns regarding road to show on MLB 24. Basically I got drafted by the Rockies and I have played a couple seasons with them and we are terrible. And it’s not cause of me, I’m always the best hitter every year and I just broke the single season home run record but are team record was terrible. So I want off the team but I’ve realized there is literally no way to leave the team to you hit free agency in many seasons which is very annoying. Why can I not just contact my agent whenever I want to tell her that I want out and get traded in a couple weeks or something. My agent literally never talks to me anymore so it’s just very annoying and I don’t understand why I can’t contact my agent myself to get out. Adding this to the game would only help so I don’t know why you don’t even think of adding it. Very stupid.

First off your original team pretty much owns you for 5 years. Nothing to do but wait it out until you become a free agent.

I haven't tried it this year but if you keep on rejecting their renewal contract offer and make crazy offers of your own, they used to not resign you and you could pick your team in the offseason.
