Yea lol people weren’t using Ted Williams and Ty Cobb and they thought to themselves people will probably use Raul Ibanez and Ryan Ludwick more lol
I think what some of these 40-50 year olds on here fail to grasp is that this game is going to market towards kids.
Also because kids are vulnerable to the microtransaction culture publishers are pushing.
-
@Sarge1387
Bingo. Plus this game should have some all time greats to help educate those kids. As a 43 year old my 7 year old son has learned about Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle thru this game. It can be marketed towards kids but still honor the legends from the past. My hey day was 80s and 90s. Tons of untapped stars from that era.
-
@TripleH-4481 I get that, but like I've realized and I'm 27, I may come on here a lot, but always at the end of the day, this is a kids game. Kids in elementary/middle school dont care about overall's they just want their favorite players.

Also not wrong. But its the predatory nature in which SDS and other pubs push the MT's in games geared towards kids I think that's the most alarming

I understand it from that end too because my son loves Acuna, Betts and Ohtani. Balance is the key. It can skew to today’s stars but not leave out all time greats along the way.
One of the biggest mistakes SDS makes consistently is over correcting. Last year was way too offline focused with too many 99s. This year is way too online focused. Middle ground would be nice. It all goes back to balance which although difficult to attain seems to be missed far too often by SDS.
-
You are not alone. I’m not there yet, but I’m getting there. The xp and content model is broken. This game isn’t rewarding. It isn’t nearly as fun this year. I’m still playing, but I’m probably going to skip next year unless some radical changes are made. They have clearly sold out for greed.
-
@Sarge1387
That’s how you create gambling problems from a young age. I’ve even seen commercials warning parents to be aware of this. It’s a shady move based on pure greed by these companies. Profit is important but sometimes it crosses the line.
-
@TripleH-4481 I just think SDS is at a point where they haven't been making profit due to the big fish legends. It's no shock how when they got rights to Johnson, Jeter, etc the game has gone a bit more in into MT, MLB is game to that by most usually gets dumped come august because of Madden.
-
@chucky97___
I feel like it’s a combo of that and MLB forcing them to go multi platform. The game has been skewing in a different direction since it became available to Xbox and switch players. When it was a PlayStation exclusive I feel like the game was much more player friendly and not so profit driven.

Guys like ibanez are catering to the 30-40 year olds, and guys like Chili Davis to the 40-50 year olds. I assume people complaining about players like this are the kids.
The horrific menus I guess are trying to cater to kids (and olds with poor taste). The gambling aspect gets all ages.

@Teak2112 could you take it further down the throat or do you have more to slobber on?
-
@TXRaider78 I've never seen a captcha and I've never heard anyone else mention it. It's likely a config issue on your end.
I assumed the missing legends were due to them being complete dirt bags like racism, misogyny, etc. and our current social climate having zero tolerance on that stuff. Last, I was surprised to recently learn that Topps Now is based on an actual baseball card line in real life.You are absolutely right about the move towards pay to play. Someone can literally buy-in to get the best cards. I don't really have issues with that, it's just not something I'll be doing.
-
@OddCoIIector the captcha is on the site with PC; in game or app doesn’t have it. Makes sense.
-
Still here??? Yawn

I don't understand this comment. Clearly, if you look at my post history, I am not happy with this year's product and I have said so.
But I want to see it improved and tossing around phrases like 'slap in the face' isn't going to do it. And I also understand that SDS isnt necessarily where the monetization blame belongs, thats not how the gaming industry typically works. Publishers 95% of the time are the greedy ones.Further, I strongly disagree with a lot of OP's criticism and I think of how this game was made worse because they applied a give AND take approach to addressing some of last year's complaints.
Yes, if you were an online preferred player last year may have seemed too much offline play using 'mid' cards you didnt want to use. They addressed this with the improved missions. However, they also took away a lot of those 'mid' cards that people like me enjoyed using for no good reason because the complaint had already been addressed. I also very strongly feel the reduced content this year, and think back to the people last year that complained there was too much content.
Wanting to see more legends is fine, but it should NOT be at the expense of ballplayers some of us grew up with. I would rather see any of the following added before any pre 1970s player: Mookie Wilson, Howard Johnson, Wally Backman, Edgardo Alfonso, John Olerud, Turk Wendell, Jesse Orosco, Roger McDowell, Sid Fernandez, David Cone, and dozens of others (including the character issues guys they wont add like Gooden, Strawberry, Dykstra and Beltran). Even Armando Benetiz. I don't disagree that its weird to not have Ted Williams in game, but it shouldnt be at the expense of the good but not great players (which I assume cost way less)
I dont want to see even less Topps Now guys after they were already cut this year. I actually have a Topps Now team ready to go for ranked when the new missions drop for fun (~500 ranked lets you bring whomever you want really)
Had the post simply been more legends (as opposed to three points wanting less non legends) and better addressed the collection and xp path concerns without the childish 'slap in the face' and incorrect information I would have likely been agreeing.

@VioletNine9 it's insane how many there are. They seem to keeping SDS devs jobs active though cause they drown out your complaints with their gurgling and choking.
-
Just gave up a homerun to a guy who swung at every pitch. The homerun was a slider about 5 inches off the plate. I had 2 perfects the next inning both lineouts to the center fielder.
All the balls out of the zone being hit, the foul balls, pinpoint rng, check swings. They have really dumbed the game down and removed any and all skill gap. They are catering to players that can't stop swinging at junk and have bad pci placement. Why do you think nearly everyone is hitting well over .300 online this year.
Everyone gets a trophy, now give us money.
-
Basically the point is there is unlimited options for players to be in this game, but they chose to go the route of making $ because it is a business and I get it, I own 4 businesses lol and yes I am old 45 yrs old. I would take a job for SDS of contacting players and or their estates and get more players. It only takes one person to put in some effort. And I would give old players 1 card not 7. Cory Synder would be a 76 silver Brook Jacoby 78 silver Kevin Mitchell 83 gold Jose Rijo 84 gold Cecil Fielder 83 gold Terry Steinbach 79 silver Dave Stewart 90 Diamond Gary Giaetti 81 gold Paul Sorrento 75 silver Lou Whitaker 86 Diamond Travis Fryman 83gold Dan Quisenbary 84 gold
Willie Mcgee 81 gold Coco Crisp 79 silver Travis Hafner 82 gold Victor Martinez 83 gold Moises Alou 84 gold
Bobby Bonilla 81 gold I mean I/we could go on forever there is over 100 years of a player pool. Then you could run events like battle royal 1500 stubs to enter max team rating 84 any players you want have a reward path there would be a way to make money too. I am available for hire lol -
@TheCanuckler309 HEY! you leave my Raul IBanez alone! i'm just saying i rake with him, but i get exactly what youre saying
-
You lose credibility when you say the inability to flip cards and make "free stubs" by using exploits is a contributing factor to you not playing the game.
