Sometimes I just don’t understand some of you guys that constantly stick up for SDS and this game . I started playing the Show the 1st year it came to Xbox and really, really loved it ! It took me a couple of years to get used the play mechanics. I still pretty much suck . I really like to play offline more than online against other people. But I liked that you could earn just about every card in the game . I learned how to flip cards to get the ones I couldn’t earn . But this year it seems they want everyone to pay money to get packs and cards. I’m 57 yrs. Old & disabled. ( chronic back pain after 2 failed surgery’s ) I’m on pain medication (strong) I like to play on rookie or veteran. All star & above is like a sweat fest that kills my back. Anyway I think this years game is a big disappointment to me so far . It’s not as smooth in gameplay, hitting (to me) is very inconsistent. The nerfing in XP is absolutely terrible , it feels like after a game I’ve gotten nowhere in Xp . I don’t like that you can no longer use your CAP player in DD . At least sds could let you use your CAP in DD just against the computer in mini seasons and conquest . That shouldn’t upset the players that play online. If the game keeps going this way ,l may not play after this year . But I love Baseball and that’s what keeps me going . Anyway sorry this is so long . Just my opinion .

@Dolenz I listed the stats, with and without the boost, for Power. And I have no problem with "boosts" as I run theme teams with captains quite often. Twins and Giants. I'm not sure what issue you're referring to?
What I see when I compare the two cards is that Niko is better overall.
Con R Castro wins by 13 points
Con L Goodrum wins by 6 points
PWR R Goodrum wins by 26 points
PWR L Goodrum wins by 18 points
Vis Goodrum wins by 30 points
Clutch Castro wins by 24Now you can ignore Defense if you want but, unless SDS has changed their methodology, defense is weighted pretty highly in the overall for shortstops.
FLD Goodrum wins by 36 points
Arm Goodrum wins by 23 points
Acc Goodrum wins by 5
REAC Goodrum wins by 45It is fine if you think Goodrum is overpriced in comparison. If you like Castros swing more then that is great. If the gap closes when you use the Buxton boost then that is all well and good. It's your choice.
I don't have either card and probably never will so I am not invested in this beyond the analysis of the two cards. Leaving boosts aside and ignoring the cost to acquire the card there is no doubt that Goodrum's is the better card.

I don't like packs. I have purchased none of these packs so far and won't in the future. I have only purchased two cards that have come inside packs so far (and I hated doing that) . I don't believe there is a chance of me reaching even the first boss pack and that bothers me. I am not one who even tries to 100% team affinity so the content seems light to me. I have stated these things numerous times on this forum.
I still get accused of being a "defender" because I simply try and look at stuff rationally.

The game literally throws stubs at you as you play. It’s nice to have something to spend it on.

Lol umm ok that makes no sense as a reply… I’m just telling you who’s the better card.
Saying Castro is better than Niko is just flat out wrong
I’m not saying there isn’t flaws in this game and you or anyone else are obviously welcome to express them
But saying 84 Castro is as good as 97 Niko is not a valid argument

I could careless about the packs, you get the cards eventually cheap with flash sales or new cards entering the market. My major problem is the XP cap. To be positive I like the new card art and bringing back the classic cards earlier than they normally do.

I’ve been beyond critical of SDS and how they have slowly ruined DD, but I honestly can’t say this is a bad thing at all. It’s really the only way to get lineup diversity.
However, if they are going to go this route then it sounds like they need more programs and other playable content being released at a higher rate.

So why when everyone mentions the Buxton boost they never mention the +10 to fielding and +10 to speed? That's huge. Hmmm. That makes that Castro card really pop -- like 95 speed with end-game contact, decent power, and decent fielding.
BTW, Captain Keiermeier (sp?) is a great Buxton boost guy.

@SaveFarris I would wager the cards from the packs can be collected for program progress, much like Season Awards. And that’s why I’ve been buying the lower price cards

@blitz77tw, there is no in game economy to even remotely dignify the price of the packs. You could grind and play for a week maybe earn 40k stubs just to pull a card that is worth 10k or less. Either that or buy a 44.99$ USD stub bundle for one pack @40k and no guarantee. There is absolutely nothing resembling a reciprocal relationship here, stub gains are stifled this year, xp cap is invasive. Also there has rarely been a pack to be earned in these stripped down programs we get. They’ve gone so blatantly anti consumer this year and know they have or they would address the community in some fashion, they bailed on the TA: S2 content stream. Hopefully they make some kind of turn around but it feels like they are committed to “weak” content and more packs.

@blitz77tw here is my argument to you. You’ve logged over 400 hours on this game. A game that I’ve never read a single positive post from you about. SDS puts these packs out, and people buy them, they wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t working. Your anger comes across as jealousy of people who can afford to buy them. If you hate SDS so much, you’re really not showing it with the amount of time you spend playing their game.
I have given them some flowers or at least a little rope ( patience ) at times this year but so far they keep hanging themselves with the rope. If the TRUTH hurts your feelings then fine cause I tell what "I Believe" is the truth from my POV and this will sound arrogant but I believe IT IS the truth NO MATTER what some fanboys want to think.
The reason I keep playing is I hope they will get the message and fix it also I do it so I do not fall behind and let me tell you that is a grind in itself cause I try and hit the XP cap every day. I want to believe that SDS will revert and not to sound corny but turn from the "darkside" and give us what they have in the past.

You have some valid posts and concerns; but you, at least in my eyes, lose a little bit of credibility when you refer to anyone that disagrees with you as a 'fanboy'.

2024 Programs: 5 (for 35 cards, assuming you lump all the Season Awards into one): Season Awards, Starter, Great Egg Hunt, Jackie Day, Spring Breakout2023 For-Sale Packs: 7 (for 58 cards) + 24 Diamond Duos (12 packs w/ 2 cards each)
2024 For-Sale Packs: 11 (for 83 cards) + 12 Headliners (1 card each)So even though there has been some movement of cards from Programs to Packs, it's not as bad as some make it out to be. And that's ignoring as the season progresses, these packs are eventually going to be given away in programs, maps & miniseasons (as we started to see during the TA 1.2 Drop).
