“Timing” hitting?

When did that BS option get put in? Last year? Talk about a lame option for lousy players to select to cheese their hitting I’m sorry but there is no scenario ever where a curveball in the dirt should be hit for a HR ️
OK I'm sorry but there is no way if you use timing hitting that you can hit a homerun on a curveball in the dirt. I use timing hitting and so do many people who have problems with zone. I can't even hit a curveball in the dirt for a hit let alone a HR so stop being a troll and talk like you know what your talking about and have used timing hitting because multiple other people will tell you no to getting rid of timing hitting

How many runs did you lose by?

Timing is a fine option for offline players but trust me - If someone is using timing online they are not going to enjoy much success.

Especially this year. They really nerfed timing and directional - not that you could play beyond all star before. I use directional strictly because my patience is super thin and I just want to play and not practice which I get is not helping. This year I notice that anything that I am not dead red on will result in a swinging strike or foul - never a hit. I complain about a decent amount but I won't about this one - you don't want me going up against you and fouling off 10 pitches which isn't fun for either of us. Offline directional/timing is a blast!

It's been in the games for many many years. A google search shows articles back to at least 2017.
Every year there are one or two posts from people convinced that their opponent is using timing hitting. Last I knew there is really no way to know what hitting method they use because the game does not show the PCI placement for opponents.

Okay, fair enough. All I know is that on several occasions now I’ve been in a close game with someone either tied or up/down by 1 or 2 runs, then the opponent pauses the game for less than 30 seconds and after that all of a sudden everything I throw is getting smashed even when the pitches are below or outside the strike zone. I’ve never used timing for hitting I always use zone so I just assumed that they switched their hitting settings cuz how does it flip so drastically like that? Anyways, thanks for your input

I won 4-3 last night with timing hitting.
-
I use timed hitting because that’s what I like. Never hit a curveball in the dirt for a homer but a high one, adios. No reason to on players who use it. I don’t care to play online so it’s no big deal. I just enjoy playing a few hours a day from the grind of life. So maybe next time let’s complain about something useful and not what settings people like to play with.
-
@xxfrystealerxx I don't believe you that that happened. Id bet you threw it in the dirt by your input, but the game made it touch the zone and they smoked it. I say this because for whatever reason, this years game constantly forces pitches down the middle, even if your input indicated inside or under the zone lol, I give up about 2 bombs a game due to this

@xxfrystealerxx
Only use Timing, like you would use ankle weights for jogging... If you use Timing all the time, then you are putting yourself at a major disadvantage. Do it for a little bit, then go back to Zone, and you will mash. -
@xxfrystealerxx I sometimes do that to go from buttons/zone to analog stride/zone to get my timing back in order. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't; don't know what other people do.
Or they're just scouting your tendencies in the pitcher stats.
-
@xxfrystealerxx, it's possible that your opponent was doing the opposite of what you originally thought... I use timing with analog stride in RS (and have for years, back when it was called Pure Analog) because I like the way it feels, and because the sticks give you a little control over swing placement (inside, middle, outside), but I know I'm putting myself at a disadvantage without controlling PCI placement.
I will, however, sometimes do exactly what you saw if I face someone who gets too predictable with a single location; take a bit, put it in zone, camp that reticle in their favorite spot, and let it rip. Much easier to hit HRs in zone if you get your location right as opposed to counting on the game to place it for you in timing/directional... of course, I'm [censored] with zone against someone who moves it around, and I just like timing with the sticks better, so don't bother to practice it. I don't set the world on fire, but I usually play at close to a .600 clip in RS using timing/analog, and that's enough for me to enjoy the experience.

Thanks for all of your input, it makes sense! I will say, however, that the scenario I described was not just for one pitch like the sarcastic example I initially used in my post (I was a bit salty at the time lol) but like when I notice this happening and the opponent pauses then starts mashing it's like all of a sudden they hit everything when the first few innings they couldn't get a hit. Maybe I am just too predictable when I pitch, I am only an average player at best overall but yeah... thanks guys! haha

No they are probably cheating when that happens my friend and I notice it too
-
@VioletNine9 ok but how is that possible? and so you're saying that I am not crazy then so thanks cuz when it happens I literally am just like "wtf did they hand the controller to a different player or something?"

Cronus they are hooking up their peripherals. I’m not gonna post anything here and the SDS white knights will die on that hill but there’s plenty of hacks for this games and examples you can find online.
-
@Crimson_Monk for sure I complain about the same thing to myself atleast 5 times a game when my inputs are good but the ball is still no where near where it was aimed or right down the middle it becomes offly frustrating when you lose a game because of it smh
-
@yankblan where can you see a players previous games tendancies well in a game with them or are you judt refering to hot/cold zones
-
@VioletNine9 Not white knighting, as idiots say, but Cronus works for pitching, not so for hitting. All the videos seen are HR Derby or batting practice. That fear mongering of a few years back died out quick.
-
@b00std_mark_II When you pause, in the stats tab, you can choose either hitting or pitching.
There you can sort all the pitch by situations/type/pitchers/hitters and so on. (beware the strike zone is from the pitcher's perspective) If your sequencing and placement is predictable, it'll show there.
