Pitching is harder, and hitting is easier for everyone. It's way to easy to foul balls off over and over again until the game forces one over the plate or you get a hit. Strikeouts are very rare compared to years past.
It's making below average players average. Whenever I see someone say that the gameplay this year is the best I assume they are pretty bad at the game. They are excited to finally be able to foul off the junk they can't stop swinging at and get bs hits. Also they like that pitches are being forced over the plate.

And the gameplay is the best I've seen in any Show game. However, I'm referring to fielding, with the exception of too many bad jump reactions from fielders with 70 reactions and below.
I've lost games against players I know aren't that good. When I aim for a low inside slider at 1-2, and the ball drops right down the middle for a 450 foot blast, that definitely is not fun. But when I do it more than my opponent, and when I can pretty consistently score more against most my opponents, that is fun, lol.

@Shauwn fielding is garbage. How many times have you dove to catch a ground ball and the fielder gets up and starts running instead of throw the ball.
I've had multiple rng outfield errors in ranked as well. The valley just hits their glove and falls to the ground.
Tagging still hasn't been touched, you can get the ball to the plate with the runner 10 feet away but the catcher doesn't swipe the tag with an urgency.
Bunt fielding is still — STILL— broken.

@Adro97-_- lol glad it’s not just me. Before this year I always made WS whenever I put the effort into doing so. This year I haven’t cracked 700 rating yet. I just can’t get out of All-Star hell. I’m dying to see how the game plays on HOF but because hitting is so easy that everyone has a lineup with averages between .350 & .450, It feels impossible to string wins together.

I hate when that happens. Usually I'll dive, then hurry to green my throw b4 he gets up without moving the left stick. It's gotta be timed perfectly. That's the only way he won't start running 2-3 steps b4 throwing. Still a valid point!

I haven't had any issues in the outfield since going with a much better fielding OF. I use Crews in Center, Buxton in RF, and now Yelich in LF. I won't even think of playing anyone lower than Yelich.
-
This literally happened today. The catcher was lackadaisical when applying the tag. If he reacted like the CPU does against me, the runner would be out. You're Def right there.
-
It's rare to see anyone bunting unless they are bad hitters. I haven't tried to bunt once yet this yr.
There are still kinks to work out, and user fixes that will help your fielding experience. At least the of don't get caught in jog animations, stick to the wall like they're trying to phuck it after making the catch or chasing a ball down the line. They improved more than they failed with fielding this yr compared to last.
In regards to diving for ground balls, try moving the stick, dive, let go of the stick, then green your throw. He'll get up and throw instead of running like a ri-tard.

I think way more people play events because RS is kinda whatever at this point with event rewards being worth almost the same. So what used to be not so sweaty is now quite sweaty. Everybody gets a bit better as time goes on.
Events were super sweaty last year. I know better than to touch that mode.
BR feels about the same
Ranked is weird because I still run into people passing through to their true rank -
@Teak2112 and because there's no punishment for quitting, people tank their record to smash lesser players.
-
It also needs to be brought up that the umpires and calls in this years game are horrendous.

Ranked is weird because I still run into people passing through to their true rankEvents and BR aren't as bad this yr. Everyone knows pitching is kinda broke. You will face ppl who throw strikes, unless u are a free swinging Stevie wonder out there.
Did I play against ppl better than me in both? Absolutely yes! Did I play against those not so good and mid? Absolutely yes.Give it a shot and see how u do in a few entries.

Infuriating how many times a pitch splits a corner of the zone and it’s called a ball
That’s pathetic
How hard is it to program perfect umpire accuracy in a game that you tout as “competitive” and advertise e-sport like tournaments?
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a pitch paint the corner and it’s called a ball…which then leads to a walk, hit or HR for my opponent when they should have gone down looking
I’d do some dirty/questionable things for all strikes to actually be called strikes in H2H modes

I think the amount of people who want some degree of baseball randomness in online play likely outweighs the people who don't. I see both sides.
I have more issues with the random relocation of my pitch location than I do on any of the umpire's calls.
Thats baseball randomness to a degree as well, but I feel MLB pitchers can throw a changeup in the dirt if they are trying to. -

Thats baseball randomness to a degree as well, but I feel MLB pitchers can throw a changeup in the dirt if they are trying to.As a former pitcher who spent many years pitching, I had very good location of my 4 seam & 2seam fb, 12/6 curve, sweeping curve, and conventional change up.
When I was on, and I knew where I wanted to go with the ball, I'd hit my general spot.In this game, even on perfect/good releases, the ball will be off 35-40% of the time. And at least 1 in 5 pitches the ball would randonly miss it's mark by 2-4 feet.
That's bad. There's definitely more wrong with pitch release/location. I can understand the ball being off by 3-6 inches, depending on overall control, break, and pitch type. But on fastballs with 90 control should not be off by 6 inches.
This is the most frustrating aspect of the game for me.
