So, collecting is actually required for the Awards program?
-
This is not another thread moaning about the tops now and award series being put in 40K packs. Believe me, I hate it too, but there’s plenty of other threads about that. Rather, I noticed that the collection missions within the program said “optional,” so I assumed it could be finished without buying those players. The only missions I have left are 1 more XBH with a DH, and the stat missions with Trout. I just did the math, and it appears that will put me 2 points under what is required for Crochet. What gives? Is there a repeatable mission that I’m missing, or is it a flat out lie that the collection missions are “optional”?

For me without buying any cards or packs I completed all the required and came to 52 total points. This program can be completed NMS, just takes some planning and doing what is asked for the points, read the qualifications carefully, primary DHs, SS, LF and CFs must be primary, unlock the cards in the path and plug them in and your set.

I did the whole program without buying one single card. Do the moments. After that put the new trout into a lineup. Addionally put in as much LF and SS (primary) as possible. For the DH I used David Ortiz from the US conquest map and Chili Davis (Ortiz can play 1B) …
For the topps now guys, the only other besides Trout is TA Haniger … Do that and you should have it in a few games -
@YOSHI24 Oh I totally forgot about that Hanniger card!
Double down on the fact that you can finish the program without buying packs, cards, or collecting cards.

I guess I’ll have to check my math, thanks guys.

Colson Montgomery from the Spring Breakout Program will help with both SS and White Sox missions.

@BJDUBBYAH I forgot it too, but it put on the „Topps Now“-Filter
@dbrooks1869_XBL And that Rodon from the US conquest map helps with the white sox too :). Did them pretty quickly -
No -- simple as that -- the cards via the packs are acting like time savers from other games. Also the cards from the packs according to a tweet / X post that those cards are NOT required to earn the lightning players. It's just the player at the end of each path when this program is released.

@solidsnake_222 maybe I'm bad at math but you need 50 stars for Crochet.
Moments gives you 12 (3 each), which will give you Trout (Topps Now).
Topps Now missions will give you 20 (5 each), which puts you at 32 and will give you Keith at 20 and Ohtani at 30 (both Topps Now cards).
General Missions will give you another 20 (4 each), which puts you at 52 to unlock Crochet.
Also from the looks of the description the Topps Now players don't have to be Program players, it can be any Topps Now card currently in the game.

@romeischillin
I think my mistake was factoring in the plus 6 for the monthly awards, which brings the total stars to 58. I thought that you needed 60 for Crochet, rather than 50. My bad!

@solidsnake_222 no worries... I had my concerns at first until I noticed that you can do it without the Season Awards mission and without the optional collections... but I hit a parlay last night so said f'it and purchased 2 from Drop 1 and 2 from Drop 2... gonna see how this pack opening goes when I get home and will do the collection only if I don't feel like continuing the grind but I might hold off until the first lightning player comes out and see where I'm at then before doing the collection missions.

Thanks for the info! I missed the whole "primary position" so kept wondering why my non-primary LF home runs weren't counting! Now to get me a LF that hits homers!
