I seriously don't understand why people have a problem with the game this year, I literally have no problem with it. I play every day for a couple hours and still have a pretty good team and got 3 of the players in the pack for less than what it's going for. I am slowly working my way through everything and haven't even touched classic mini seasons yet
because you'll always have people who want something for nothing. and if they don't get their way they come whining and crying on these forums. not saying everyone - there are some legit concerns - but some of the stuff I read today is ridiculous.
-
@LuvMyXBOX no we just aren't special Billy's that need our hand held for us to understand things. Thanks for playing.

Where is the SDS that pushed the narrative of " You can earn all cards through just playing the game " . SDS should be ashamed for putting the best Topps Now cards in packs you have to buy.
-
UnsaferRainbows- keep your cookies. I was just wondering why everyone shits on the game when this is what they asked for
."No 99s at launch" -
@sbchamps17 we are not asking for 99’s bro you are clueless we paid for the game we should get the content we paid for not have to buy stubs to get cards that used to be in programs
-
It's literally a spend stubs campaign. Even if you don't buy the packs and buy them in the market, it's just a stubs sink for terrible "rewards."
-
You don't HAVE to buy stubs, alot of people including me are still doing it NMS and not having any problems
-
Still a little early for me to worry. But I'll say this: Last year you could get at least 2 of the 3 Season Collections just by locking in non-sellable cards that were earned from Programs and TA.
Unless they release a TON of cards available through Programs, and not packs, we may be lucky to get one of the Collection cards. If that's going to be the norm; ALOT of people are going to hang it up early.
Also, I'm interested in seeing how the new 'TN' program works. Even though you were able to get those cards for 'free' last year; many didn't make my lineup unless they were being used to progress their program.
However if we can't complete, or st least earn the Season Reward/Lightning player, without buying cards; it's going to be a short season for most of us.

It blows my mind that SDS has some people so snowed they are still defending them over this program. I am going to lay it out for these fools just in case they are slow ( they are spoiler alert )
The program itself is fine but it's been since I want to say they stopped doing the packs for POTM cards in Show 19 or 20 forget because players really disliked it. This is why some are up in arms over this decision so now do you understand it or do I need to find a way to write it in crayon for you ?
I am sorry ( not sorry ) for being rude but I am tired of SDS making changes that are killing this game for SOME of it's players. If they do not really want the offline players anymore then stop saying " play the way you like " cause in the end that is garbage. Specially when you then go nerf and not just change it to be more balanced you just destroy a way to get the XP.
SDS -- YOU SUCK --- this is how I plan on signing my posts until they change or suspend / ban me for just speaking my mind

."No 99s at launch"I have no issues with no 99’s at launch. I prefer it that way actually. What I have an issue with is now there are more Topps Now cards in a pack than there are in the “program.” Although it’s hard to call what they released today a program.

While I think its stupid to call the mini seasons thing a nerf when it was 100% certain to be a bug, I do feel that offline players have been getting the shaft
It started in the middle of the year last year when they started putting the event cards as collectable in the program tracks. That made the cards cost too much for offline players who wanted the cards to reasonably justify
Now theyve cut the amount of program cards by more than half, I assume in response to online players whining (while adding online only ways to progress programs...which was the way to address their needs anyway)
And the xp balance feels wrong, with ranked and BR getting significant xp but conquest getting next to nothing, or in most cases nothing.
This is not the same game that was great for the first 2/3 of the season last year for offline players.

@flaw7420
@sbchamps17
The overall card rating itself is irrelevant... The overall card rating is only relative to what other cards are available, what cards can I grind for, and what cards do need to be purchased, etc.For example, if the best cards in the game are around 93-95, and I can grind for a 93-97, then great. On the other hand, if the best cards are at 99 overall, and I can only grind for cards that are valued at 97, and can only acquire 99's through stubs, then that is a bummer.

I understand the packs. Sony gaming in the US just laid off 1000 employees over the whole company. I wonder how many people at SDS were let go. If they need to make more to stay sustainable, I get it. It's the XP creep that still gets me. If it was about the LS 99s at launch, why didn't they just make those cards able to creep up with the power creep. They are part of the Live series after all. I think it's all directly related to create more revenue to stay alive. It just seems poorly thought out.

The mini season was a nerf but it was needed but they could have still nerfed it and still made it fair too. I am not sure how since they might have had to disable Mini seasons ( players already in one would be fine ) but anyone trying to start another would have to wait for a patch or something.
I am tired of trying to be fair to both sides and lay out a solid compromise but I will ONE more and for the last time on Mini seasons.
They could have done what they did but instead of taking ALL the XP they could have given players who did it again not the full XP they got for the first time but like 50 % less. Also another idea I had was to put a lockout of like 24 to 48 hours on mini seasons once completed before you could start another. I know none of these idea's are great but it would be a solid compromise.
Also if they were so worried people might use broken parts of the game to cheese the system for more XP then intended then they could have put a lockout on cards on XP path. Let's say they did this idea let's take the Soriano card as an example they could have put an unlock date of like 2 weeks from the launch before it could be used. IF a player got to that point they would get a voucher and once that date came around -- turn it in and boom you have the player. I know not perfect but just an idea of what they COULD have done.
Then add on this Potm garbage it just adds up to be really bad for players

Its obvious that SDS is struggling. Increased demands from publishers (XBox and Switch availability in particular) have led to a product that has had a lot of bugs that just shouldnt have happened, and a hilariously bad patch experience
That explains the limited changes to last years version as well. They need more revenue, and I can appreciate that.
However, I find it hard to believe the content they are skimping on requires a lot of manpower to create. Topps even provides the card art already for the program they have just gutted. So less content plus more packs is not a good formula.
I feel if they made a 7.99 monthly add on that gave a pack a day, ballin packs on the weekends, and a choice pack on the last day and reverted content back to last year's pace (even the amount of shop cards, which was high but not unreaosnable I feel) they would make more money.

@blitz77tw The XP thing really gets to me and the way SDS has always been when they could fix something is penalize everyone. They want people to buy stubs, but they allow manipulation of the marketplace with stub transfers year after year. There is no other sucessful game this studio has released or will release besides this one.

Here is the best part,
the TN version of Ohtani is a DH, but has 61 vision and still doesn't qualify for the Buxton boost. -
Sds's main focus is to deliver a successful and fun product for customers to want to buy and play, period.
My question to everyone is this. Are you enjoying the game? And would you recommend friends to buy it?
Even with everything bad with the game, at the end of the day, I still play it. Why? Bc I love baseball.
If I choose to speak my mind, I have that right. I dropped a Benjamin to play this game. I want nothing more than for this game to be great. Just like most people here that also choose to speak their mind. -
I mean, yea there's things missing. we also have a million free cards with TA and that will continue to grow. I'm gonna give it time and just compete the best that I can with whatever I can achieve.
