PS5 Version "High Performance Mode" vs "Game Default" vs "Resolution mode differences.

Hey, I did not know the PS5 had a feature where you can change the graphics settings for games from the settings option.
I felt MLB 24 The Show had some frame rate issues and drops on the default so I switched over to high performance mode and I went to practice.
It seemed easier on pinpoint to hit spots and get better releases, and the hitting seemed easier to time up and square up the ball.
I went to play a "play now" game of Mets vs Braves at Citi Field in April at 1PM and it seemed like the game only had a couple parts during cut scenes where it looked like frames were being dropped and there was some slight drops of frame rate and stuttering. It seemed like it was easier to locate the ball, but it seemed like the graphics had some slight more "jaggies" and that maybe the anti-aliasing effects had been turned down a little bit. It also seemed like the lighting was maybe a little bit worse.
Does anyone actually know what happens when you switch these features, is it a placebo and the game runs the exact same no matter what you pick? Or does putting it in "high performance mode" turn down some of the anti alising or shadow graphics to try and better keep 60FPS? Also what does "resolution" mode do to increase the graphics?

Game looks and runs best playing on a Xbox series X with a elite controller

Game looks the best on ps5 with a controller and a chair

It would probably depend on your TV/Monitor and wether it has the ability to even upgrade when you do make the change.
In simple terms its asking you if your prefer speed or graphics. Choose speed. Always speed.
Most games have this feature. Resolution would make it 4K at 60 frames or FPS. Bad for MLB.
Performance will most likely set it to 120 frames at 1080p. Good for MLB.
Rarely does any game on console play at 4K 120, and the TV/Monitor to match is a hefty prince tag.

Well I was asking if anyone knows, or if anyone has ever done testing or if SDS has ever stated what happens. When I play it on "high performance" my TV's frame rate still says it's in 4K, I have a 60hz television set so I cannot go above 60FPS anyway but it seems more responsive and smoother and like it has less frame rate drops than on the other settings, but this could be placebo working.

Are you talking about the settings on the PS5? Or does the Show have graphics settings hidden somewhere?

I have the LG C2 with the PS5 and XBX, and the graphics & performance are the same on both. They both run at 120Hz and 120 (119) fps and gameplay feels the same. The only difference for me is I like the wired PowerA controller over the DualSense.

@kingdutch The settings on the playstation 5 itself, the game does not have it's own settings in game to change for this.
