Matt Waldron

Ive been playing mlb the show for 12 years now, and am a consistent World Series player who hit 1000 rating a couple times last year, and I have not seen a pitcher more dominant and hard to hit than this 72 overall knuckleballer named Matt Waldron. His knuckleball floats up like an eephus, and cuts in out or drops every time. It is impossible to hit, and needs to be fixed. There’s a reason why there is 600+ orders for this card in the community market. Losing consistently in this fashion is so frustrating and makes me not wanna play the game.

SDS has no idea how to code a knuckleball and thus we get the broken pitch we see today. It’s way too consistent (which is nothing like real life), you can actually place it (nothing like real life), and it defies the laws of physics (can break both left and right (nothing like real life).
They need to remove the pitch from H2H play or it is going to make a mockery of their attempt at e-sports.
There is a reason Waldron is the most p5 player in the game right now.

12 years and you don't remember Phil Niekro???
Just like with Waldron, people started to complain about Niekro (and Steven Wright) so much because they couldn't adjust, go into practice mode to learn, or just didn't understand a knuckler that SDS removed Niekro from the game...a Hall of Fame pitcher. And, the few pitchers that remained that threw a knuckle were changed from knuckle to knuckle curve.
Hitting the knuckle isn't impossible, as you claim, it just takes timing and patience. It was a pleasant surprise to see Waldron in conquest and a challenge that hasn't been faced in a while. Myself, and a couple of others, were glad to see this pitch again...all knowing the complaints would rain down...just like they did with Phil Niekro.
Certainly a WS type player can adjust to their opponents pitching the same way a casual player, that plays CPU and friends online, can.

@evanchance
Haha whatever you gotta tell yourself buddy. This card is an absolute joke and needs to be removed from competitive play. If it wasn't completely op there wouldn't be over 500 maxed orders on a 72 ovr card.
Nobody wants to face this card every time the play coop, and that's exactly what will happen if they don't remove it.

@go4stros25
Lol, ok... I'll keep telling myself that some folks just need to get better. Good luck!

@Collazdawg said in Matt Waldron:
His knuckleball floats………….it is impossible to hit, and needs to be fixed.
Here’s what I do and it works. Pick a location and swing at it every single time no matter what. That knuckler arrives at the same moment just about every time so you gotta pick a location and swing at it. I’m warning you though the very instant you decide that you’re going to pick a different spot to swing at is when you’ll burn yourself lol.
My great uncle had a knuckleball that was to die for and he told me that even he didn’t know for sure hisself where it was going to land but he could just about get it in the zone every single time. You gotta pick a spot and keep on swinging at it and you’ll eventually hit the sucker a ton. Hope this helps and best of luck

I think let us have Nekro back, they have his rights, they’re not stopping the knuckleball anyway, plus I want Wake and Hoyt Wilhelm in the game at some point
-
Yeah, let’s not allow people to use a real life MLB pitcher in a game that is supposed to emulate the MLB. Just get better lol I’ve faced Waldron and clobbered him. Just wait back, and like the old saying “if it’s high, let it fly. If it’s low, let it go.”

@evanchance RA Dickey was a killer.
-
Lol these threads are why they got rid of the stats on here.
“WhAt I dO is ThiS” Nobody cares what you do in conquest on rookie or about your great uncles super cool knuckleball. If we could click on your name and still see the .145 batting average you wouldn’t post. Other guy called conquest a challenge, probably had him P5
-
Not so...comprehension is key. I called Waldron the challenge, not conquest. But, thanks.
-
@evanchance
You also have zero wins online. Thanks.
-
Ouch, zing! You got me. Mic drop moment for you. And if it matters...there are other online versions available. Exploring the menu would show this. And, you're welcome.
Oh wait...you missed online wins from previous years...no worries. Cherry pick more.
-
@evanchance well sport, it matters because swinging in the exact same spot ALL GAME until you run into one isn’t really a strategy when the opponent can actually use his brain to think unlike the CPU in conquest. You’d go 0-30 online against a WS player and are telling him how to hit off your late great uncle. Thanks. Thanks so much.
-
I do play online...search the menus and you'll see what's there.
Again, comprehension and association is key here...I said nothing about a great uncle. Nor did I say "swing at the same spot". Maybe try replying to the actual comment that these were stated in.
I get it...it's ok.

I'm so disappointed in these "good" players. They need to learn to adjust.
I am not a very good player and I smacked the hell out of Waldron.So disappointed that they cared in to the whining. If an old gamer with slower reflexes can make the adjustment, than so can the world series players.
