So we're basically grinding 2 months nonstop for cards that will be useless within a couple weeks?
-
With the new XP system and cap, people are not gonna be able to get the S1 bosses until probably May. And then they will expire a few weeks after that when S2 starts and become unusuable unless you spend a wild card slot (gotta grind for those still too)
This system is horrible, go back to the innings program
-
Yep! All in the spirit of having that release-day sizzle when Season 2 drops. But that won't happen. Because regardless of wanting it to happen, there is only one release day.
To be fair, there will be FOUR wild card slots. And honestly, I think it will be cool -- kind of like a BR vibe -- to have a team with killers but also with flawed players. Hmmmm....just think I talked myself into being somewhat on-board with this system...lol...
I just hope it doesn't take forever to unlock all the WC slots. You should be able to unlock 2 from the start if you "completed" Season 1, and dedicated players should have about half the season to use all four slots.
We'll see.
-
@SuntLacrimae50
I can see it maybe working if the WC slots are very easy to unlock early on like you said. But the way they will prolly do it is unlock the first at at like 500k xp , another at 750k, another at million...that's just how I see it playing out because they have made everything such an endless grind in this game now.
-
I willing to see how it works out but this has been my concern from the moment it was announced.
My other concern is how long it will take some of us who do not put in multiple hours every day of the week to reach 1 million XP. I never assume that I will get to the end of a XP timeline but I do expect with average play time to at least get to the first boss.
-
@Dankmaymays If you want to keep using your 89 overall players you grinded for in July go for it, I'll be using the newer better cards dropped in season 2 as will most everyone else.
-
Good point -- the attribute floor and ceiling will raise in Season 2 as well.
Still, we'll see.
-
Folks are going to be burned out grinding TAs over an over is going to be my prediction. 3 mini TAs grinds per season of the same stuff is going to get boring unless they change it up somehow. I mean daang im already bored
-
@Bearsfan217 The Ta's fly by this year, i have barely even tried to complete the TA's and finished the the AL east already, once you get the bossess the grind just flys by, this is nothing like last year and again, the cards overalls will rise each season, this way is the same as not have a season, you ddont want to use these 89's in July do you?

Right. I'm not sure if TA all year round is more of a punishment than a blessing, lol. It might be better as a Monthly Awards structure that you pound and get done with.
In fact, the slow grind itself might be the problem. The best natural rhythm of DD might just be intense grind then nothing (i.e., enjoy your cards).
This year I really FEEL the whole "attention economy" thing. Especially with nerfed XP and caps. It's gross.
-
@SuntLacrimae50 TA has so many different ways to grind, and is 100x faster this year and i mean in this is with offense, but what do you want? Do you want them to just give you cards? TA is and always will be the best for no money spent players, you don't have to strictly play single player anymore you can get so much TA points just by completing multi player missions, TA is really good this year.
-
I do not get it. You gotta „work“ a little and get the TA-Bosses … lots of them make lots of teams very good/better … At the end, you will get the Season-Bosses … which you can use some time and Wild Card the next season. Then you will got other cards to build up and have fun again, but on a higher overall basis …
I can only speculate that some guys here are creating problems … to have themAnd I do not get, why the Innings should do any better. Nobody used the inning bosses a significant amount of weeks long when 21 was out. But maybe that is too far back that nobody remembers correctl.y

I thought when the new Season starts they go back to the power creep? Or are they starting out with 90s; since this Season started with 89s?
-
@YOSHI24 I'm convinced some of these guys never changed their line ups in the past, cards from april do not need to be used all year long nor why would you want to keep using a flawed 89 all year
-
@x814xmafia They already said (maybe you should listen to the streams), that S2 will start probably with 92/93
-
@x814xmafia They'd build up as the year goes on like last the previous shows, as time goes on TA cards will get better, and better. Thats thr power creep model.

I disagree. It's fine for right now but doing it 3x per season? Going to be tough to swallow heading into season 2 IMO
-
@chucky97___ Why are you talking about 89 overall players? Im talking about the 99 bosses you get and the S1 collection 99 rewards that you're gonna get at the end of the season. Nobody is complaining about losing 89 overall players that you can get on day 1.
You intentionally being a dimwit to try and defend SDS on this or are you naturally this slow?

Oh I get it, and it's fine. It's a design decision. My discomfort is more general, it's with the "attention economy" and "audience capture" in culture generally. I can feel SDS/DD trying to do that here more than in previous years, maybe. Any persistently online mode will try to find newer and better ways each year to keep you "loyal" -- on the drip.
I think modes like this have a sweet spot for the player, but companies can't allow that sweet spot to just be, because there's always incentive to do more/better (=make more money). I feel that this year...maybe because I'm more sensitive to it generally all around us.
All good.
-
I’m enjoying the grind right now but it does make me laugh how they said this year would feel “less grindy”
-
But we are in the same place as last year with very similar teams. It's like the WBC set all over again. Most teams are made up of Buxton, Beltre, Clemente and the Spring Breakout players.
