With women being announced in the game...

Never gave them a thought. They’re not in an officially recognized league by MLB.
-
It's a Columbia Pictures production, so unlike Major League, Field of Dreams, Sandlot, Mr. 3000 and all the other usual suspects (and "The Usual Suspects"!), Sony would have the rights.

Even if they didn't have rights to the movie, it wouldn't matter. It was a real team.
So far SDS has stuck to MLB, MiLB, and NL teams (which were finally, and much too late in life, adopted into MLB). If they branch out to women's league teams, they'll need to change the name of the game...unless MLB adopts them too.

Who needs Kaiju when you could have Keyser Söze!

Well I'm creating a Rosie O'Donnell CAP on day 1 regardless.

And here’s Marla Hooch, what a hitter

This project began 3 years ago. For those who want new features in the game, now you know how long it takes to add them.

I think create a stadium took 3 years, I remember them saying it takes longer because of the size of the dev team.

Yep, same with the Negro League Storylines - though I'm sure a lot of that time was nailing down the rights of players.

With adding women in the game this year, why couldn't they have incorporated the women's baseball league? That would have made more sense.

Look at reply #4.
They aren't just adding women. They are adding women who have played on professional men's teams. Notably, in the Negro League, and probably others who have played in MiLB (like the one who helped them with the motion capture for 24). We already have male MiLB players in the game, so why not women too? The only argument for this is if they aren't on a 40-man roster, but they are barrier breakers, which makes them historic players who have and are making a difference in MLB.
Adding the ability to have female CAPs is only natural because they had to create those animations for the player(s) they are already adding. By allowing female CAPs in RTTS, it will also increase their fan base.

@Blind_Bleeder . My bad.
