Guys, Shield Woods is dumb

I’m just saying, for all the talk about realism in the sim, games at Shield Woods are about as arcade as it gets.
I usually can barely score two or three runs in a ranked game and I just scored six on five tanks, while losing 10-6.
It was somewhat fun, other than the “nice try ramone” after every strikeout and the other goofy sounds of the show my opponent used. That said, there was nothing remotely resembling actual baseball.

I agree. But many people use it because it evidently rewards good contact and pci placement.

I guess “good contact” is subjective…

Yeah, they do so because it rewards bad pci and bad contact too … It is such a shame

They need someplace for the minor league teams to play for RTTS and franchise. Maybe they figured humans wouldn’t play in those places. When I first heard of the place I thought it was fake not a game created MiLB stadium. I assumed people only used MLB stadiums or their own user created stadiums.

Shield woods is a great place to use other players that wouldn't do well in other fields.. 97 diamonds play very well at shield woods.. I use to have 97s in my lineup if I was home team at shield woods if I wasnt home team and didn't play at shield woods I would replace those 97s from the bench.. gives you good diversity and some way to enjoy different players rather the same ole J-Ram, mookie Betts, Mike trout mix..

@fubar2k7 When I play online I generally try to rotate through multiple stadiums every game. I make sure not to play in the same stadium every time, and if I get a spot like polo grounds, or some other place where shenanigans can take place, I move on to the next tolerable stadium.
Do you think the better solution would be for online only to have ONE stadium would be? It would possibly eliminate, or at least reduce the complaints about elevation, fence height, and outfield distances.
I don't mind there being places where someone who is weak online like myself to play and bash the CPU offline, where it affects only my playing, and would allow others to use as an easier way to complete programs and not affect another players experience.

They should make stadiums play … realistic. I get that Coors Field is max elevation and the ball flies. But that should be the worst. Shield woods is three times more HR-friendly

@darkblue1876 You are smart doing what you do as long as you aren’t shafted with a penalty for backing out. I was under the impression from the streams a couple years back that H2H limited stadium elevation and outfield dimensions. Seems like this stopped at some point since then. They also use to penalize you playing outside position and that is gone and must have stopped at some point since that no longer exists. Why did they even bother to remove wind from the outdoor sport if they’re gonna allow you to play games at 5300 feet above sea level in tiny stadiums?
-
I honestly didn’t mind playing there. As I mentioned, it was mostly fun.
The thing that gets me is, so much of what makes this gameplay NOT fun is there to “make the game realistic”.
Clearly a good chunk of the player base cares a lot less about the simulation aspect of the game than we’re supposed to.

@fubar2k7 I meant when I choose the stadium. I don't back out of the game if I am the road team unless it's clear from the start I am going to get crushed. I prefer to walk before first pitch as it just is a waste of everyones time to start then walk. I am in an older version of the game and about half the games I get are cheesers trying to steal a rank they couldn't get when the game was active, and the other half are legit 1000 level players.
The 1000 guys I always try to get out before the game starts as while I don't mind losing, I do mind being cannon fodder while these guys pad their stats and I literally get nothing. I have tried a couple of times and it's not even close to being an enjoyable situation.
-
@darkblue1876 I got you now. They really need something to limit where you can play. I was looking at the top ranked players and their stats. I’m not sure I would want to play a game where my team ERA was pushing 9. I’d be bored out of my mind winning games 25-9 with .500 team batting averages.

I hate those max elevation parks because they reward bad input way too much. I rarely lose there tho, I usually can hit better than my opponents, when I can’t do I get destroyed

@iBonafideScrub_
I had one bad inning in the 6th where I could not throw a strike for the life of me. The first guy out of the pen was half energy (thought he could get two outs but I was wrong) and also couldn’t throw a strike to save his life.I was literally trying to throw his primary sinker to the default location down the middle, but nope! I even switched to pulse to see if that could at least get me in the zone. Of course a grand slam followed. Lol.
