Bunt Cheese is Alive and Well
-
I mean he didn’t score a run against you. Let them bunt all day if that’s the case
-
@virusts
Exactly. I didn’t even adjust my defense, other than corners in with a runner on third and less than two out (which I would have done against anyone). -
I lost a BR game cause a Dude kept bunting runners over/stealing on Bunts, etc. Good strategic baseball dont get me wrong. I'm just doing BR to grind PXP w/ the BR Cards not necessarily win so I didn't change my defense or anything. The way I deal with bunters on the game is the same way I did when I pitched in High School. Throw it up and in, try and get a pop up. What annoyed me was that the game allowed him to drop perfect bunts down the line or right in between defenders on bad pitches with guys that probably only have like 20-30 bunt ability.
-
Yes, agreed. I think possibly the biggest exploit in this strategy is the extra step lead from second/bunt with batter move.
You can certainly pick over to 2 and or step off, but it’s too easy for an average hitter with low bunt attribute to make enough contact that a fast runner can score.

@GixxerRyder750 SDS will ALWAYS reward the cheating player. Had a cheeser last week, I was up 1-0, because I just struggle on hitting, late in the game he successfully bunted on a pitch upstairs, and not even in the strike zone, then the tides came in and every bunt he laid down was magically perfectly placed.
Until cheaters face actual consequences, or bunting is nerfed to a realistic level this will continue to be an issue. I am playing an older version and am just trying to prestige my players while I still can, but this garbage just has to go.
-
@halfbutt part of the problem with bunt cheesers is that bunting isn't even close to realistic. In MLB 99% of bunts go, what, 3-5 feet, and if they don't roll foul they slow down dramatically once they hit the ground.
In the show they rocket off the bat at 60-75 MPH and go halfway down the line, or even with correct defense a guy who only bunts will be good enough to put it in the perfect place every time.
Until SDS actually fixes this, cheesers will always prosper. And given the massive glitches in this years game that never got fixed, this will never be resolved.

looks like the massé in a game of billiards lol
-
Yes, it’s unfortunate. It’s WAY too easy to bunt, and you’re absolutely correct in that it’s not very realistic.
The main reason I posted was I was surprised by my opponent’s gameplay. I’ve played bunt cheesers before, and used to tweak my defense etc and get frustrated trying to counter.
This time, I just kept playing as if I was facing a normal opponent, and he pretty much handed me a win.
It was odd.

@halfbutt gets annoying when you know they are going to bunt, they bunt and miss twice, then proceed to guess and hit a homerun the next swing.
-
Yeah, that always makes me wonder.
Like, if buddy is good enough to actually hit something, why bother with the cheese? -
Hey, if you accept 80mph exit velo homerun on Shield Woods, accept my bunting because I’m playing smart.
-
I ran into some cheesers this last week myself. I couldn’t believe people still do that [censored] but whatever.
