255 HR limit
-
I guess this has already been addressed (can't find the topic though), but how is the HR stat still in 8 bit?
Some people like me enjoy playing this game on beginner and have a blast at doing +200 HR per season, yet, our HR gets reset towards the end of the season when we hit 256 and it's frustrating.
I can't believe we're in 2023 and this is still a thing in MLB The show, this has been pointed out for years now.
This is how I like to play MLB the show and I'm having a blast that way.
But now that I just realized this is still an issue I'm kinda thrown off, this is really frustrating.

I was enjoying an all-time HR record season in I think 18 or 19 but I got bored of it... I hit a smooth 90+ home runs after my call up and countless others while in AA and AAA... it's fun if you are just enjoying mashing homers but you have to look at it like atleast they let you get to 255 because that's just wild
-
I’m the complete opposite. I play on legend with sliders that makes it even more difficult. It gets boring to me when I can hit +.300 without even trying.
-
Yeh this is rough, I hate my homeruns resetting in the middle of the season
-
I'm with you. This thing reset in July. Number 256... Is a zero. Wow.

The answer to your question is in this thread. It’s how the coding is done for homeruns and probably all statistical categories.
-
@CaptainSauce67 it happens for hit streak as well, lol
-
I mean I get what everyone is saying but it's technically not possible in real life so they probably wrote that into the games code or something.
-
In 23 it reset at 200. So, great fix. I will never buy this franchise again. WTF? Why put a limit, it's just one's and zero's. Asses!
-
This is not a glitch. It's programmed that way to prevent people from cheesing the game!!!
-
It’s an unintended glitch, much like Pac-Man level 256
-
Not a glitch and not unintended. it's how they coded it.
-
It's like in the football games, can't score more than 255. The difference is it sticks at 255, but this just proves maybe coding should be updated now to allow higher numbers.

Sounds like your settings are too low. Try adjusting them higher, then you won't have that problem anymore.

It's not a settings option. It's software issue that exists in all sports games. Any individual season statistic that would not normally come close to 255 will stop count after it and reset. I hit a 255 game hitting streak, next game had at least 3 hits and no mention of the hitting streak continuing. Current hit streak is around 209. I should be at around 465 and counting. In the 2026 season I had 511 RBIs and scored 326 runs with 169 home runs. All those stats looked correct (All show to be the current MLB single season records) until I went to the Stats/Awards tab right below where you can edit your players looks and info, where it shows 79 RBIs and 40 Runs for the 2026 season.

Pretty sure he meant difficulty settings

@PAinPA_PSN I keep mine at Amateur because it gives me a pattern based on each individual pitcher and their pitches so I can try hit for the gap more often rather than practically crushing it over the fence every time. Or if I'm feeling cheeky, I can start the game off with a 9 pitch walk.
