Why do I have do moments for 1 hour? Why can't I get the same credit playing online?
As long as Moments remains an option. Some of us rather enjoy moments and, even though I know it is blasphemous, Showdowns.

I don't mind Showdowns. I just don't like the One Loss and You're Done format.
-
I think they solved it with repeatable missions . I have barely done the postseason stuff and I'm almost finished with those programs on mostly repeatable missions points . I've only done a few moments here and there .
-
I hope the recent addition of vouchers for pitching 10 innings carries into next year for team affinity programs. With it being 9 instead of 10 however
-
@Dolenz They can leave Showdown and all that for everyone that enjoys playing offline. That's not my complaint. People who would rather play online need other ways to complete these programs and missions.
Last year they had a Headliners program that allowed you to play online and get credit that way. There's no reason they all can't be that way.
-
All the recent programs have offline and online missions which many are repeatable I’m in
-
@nymets1987 They need to add ways to advance online besides PXP. It's a baseball game. Why don't we have stat missions such as X amount of doubles or home runs? Just saying.

Doesn’t this program have stat missions for online only?
-
@nymets1987 I'm speaking about all programs in general. You advance at a snails pace playing online.
And I'm not taking about specific players having stat missions. I'm talking about team stats as a whole. Maybe for every 5 doubles you get X amount of progress. There's ways to make it more enjoyable.

The only problem with having progress towards programs earned with online stats is that you'll have people complaining about other players quitting mid play.
Years ago they had a Griffey Jr program where was one the requirements to obtain him was to hit X amount of homeruns online in X amount of games. And people would dashboard so the other player wouldn't get the homerun.
Also it would be to easy to abuse as you would have people asking other people to boost stats.
It could be worse. They could bring back the Immortals. There you had to hundreds of hits, PAs, Ks, IPs, etc with a team.
Or where you had to get two DOUBLES, not XBHs, with a player that had low speed. (Daniel Nava).
Just ge glad that they're allowing some online stats towards program progress.
For the last few years online and offline players had the same option. Gaining PXP.
-
@X-FREEZE-OFF-X I've been playing since 2013. You had to hit 4 home runs with Griffey online. That sucked for sure, but so did doubles with Joe Torre.
I hear you on all that, but right now the most efficient way to play is to play on rookie offline and just numb out for hours. I'm not hear for that and people quit already as it is. My messages got turned off years ago when they started asking for 8 intentional walks. The good old days is what I like to call it. 2016 gets my vote as best year.
At least we're not collecting 1000's of hats this year.
-
@SkunkyTrees1977
As it is, online players work for two things at once. PXP/player missions for offline programs and online rewards from RS and events. Those that do it offline only, only get offline rewards. I don't mean to be glib, but what is your problem with that? I don't play online. I hate the online culture of unsportsmanlike play, or harassing other players for winning or losing. So I play offline only. I chose not getting online rewards even though I can finish offline rewards with online play. This is the first program, other than TN and POTM, I've seen where you have to do moments. They took me all of a half an hour. I'm just glad they got rid of the programs where we had to do events to finish them. I almost stopped playing altogether because of them.
-
@broken_toy1 I'm not talking about Ranked Seasons rewards or BR rewards or event rewards. I'm talking about cards you have to unlock by playing Showdowns and moments.
If you didn't like to have to play online to get a reward I would expect you to understand the opposite scenario.
I view moments as having to take a timeout from actually playing the game. I've got to sit there and pump up and in fastballs to the CPU or just keep taking hacks until the programming says I'm good to go. What if a guy can't play all day?
I've player 10 event games since getting this game 2 days ago. Not one person has acted crazy. I haven't witnessed one bunt attempt let alone bunt dancing. Online isn't as crazy as you make it out. My issue is that I've only gotten 1 TA 5 voucher in those 10 event games. It doesn't add up. I'm still 1 more inning away from my 2nd voucher. I don't think I'm getting credit for an inning pitched if I change pitchers because something isn't adding up.

You DONT get credit unless the pitcher pitches the WHOLE inning.
Ex. You play an Event game and you pitch two innings with your starter. Going into the 3rd inning you're winning 3-0. You make two outs with your closer and procede to load the bases with the next three batters. Their next batter is a lefty and you're running a righty. You bring in a lefty closer and his batter strikes out to end the game.
Technically even though you pitched 3 innings, the coding doesn't count half or third innings, so you only get credit for 2 IP.
Same if you're playing thr cpu and need holds and saves. You pitch two innings with your starter and bring in a reliever to pitch. He pitches to two batters, striking them out, and you intentionally walk the next batter. Since he faced the 3 batter min you can take him out and pur in another reliever to close out the game. You'll get credit for the win, a hold, and a save. But you'll only get credit for 2 IPs.

"I'm not talking about Ranked Seasons rewards or BR rewards or event rewards. I'm talking about cards you have to unlock by playing Showdowns and moments." That's part of my point. You can earn most offline rewards by playing online. To earn online rewards you have to play online. Your complaint of playing moments for a half an hour to start a program because you don't have all day? I don't enjoy online, so I understand I'm not going to get those rewards. That doesn't mean I don't want them. If thirty minutes keeps you from wanting to play one program, and it is only one, I'm surprised you want to play this game at all.
I understand not caring for showdown. I don't like it either. However the only program you have to play showdown for was the WBC program. The only program you've had to do moment for was the Finest program. That's only if you want the 97ovr cards. You can finish the Finest program without doing the moments, it'll only take longer.
I'm glad you had a good experience with other player online while you had messaging off for all ten of those games. Your experiences are not common. I'm far from the only one that feels that way.
You got a TA5 voucher for playing events? That's not right. I have to play mini seasons to get them. You also get 1.5 times the PXP I do simply for playing online. You can also use the cards from TA5 online to finish it. Ten event games? You have to win five mini season games to get one. Use the cards correctly and you can finish TA quicker than I can. I'm not upset about that. I just don't care for the grass is always greener mentality. The person that complains that the directional hitter has an advantage over the zone hitter without even knowing if they were playing against a directional hitter. They just assume that since they lost to someone, it's because the other person had a perceived advantage. Even if that advantage never existed.
So to recap. Online play gets more EXP, PXP, offline mission credit, online only mission credit, plus TA vouchers, and online only earned rewards. Offline players get less EXP, PXP, TA vouchers only with TA mini seasons, and offline mission credit without the ability to earn online rewards making it more difficult to complete collections. I'm just curious how much greener the grass looks over here. My grass is mostly brown and full of weeds. I think you're missing the weeds

You get credit doing anything offline. Why are you tripping about getting progress while playing events? I get 7 stubs per event game. You get more for failing a moment. Somehow my post about online woke something up terrible inside of you.

I'm not tripping. I write a lot. I'm a writer. I also talk a lot. Sometimes out of my [censored], but it usually makes sense. I do apologize, I didn't mean to sound rude. With your answer, it seems I did. My post was just an answer to your thread. Which I disagree with.
"This game has turned into a circus with all the tasks needed to do before you can actually enjoy the game." I'm not big on this year, but I do enjoy the gameplay.
"Something needs to change when the best way to play your game is to turn into a vegetable and play the CPU for 8 hours while watching something on another TV." The best way to quickly earn anything is online play. This was the primary premise I disagree with. You get more and more quickly for playing online. You still have to use the correct cards, but that's the whole thing behind DD.
"Why do I have do moments for 1 hour? Why can't I get the same credit playing online?" I'm assuming this is hyperbole. That's cool, I often use this literary devise.
"Why do I get 7 stubs for a 3 inning online game? I can fail a mission and get more stubs from the XP earned. Make this nonsense make sense." My experiences tell me this is both true and false. You get next nothing in term of stubs for playing. However, you get the same next to nothing for doing anything in this game. With moments, you might get one or two stubs per try. They add up, which is why it seems like more.
As far as disliking online play, rage quits and intentional disrespect is annoying. It's not just this game, it's all games. "You got lucky, your trash." (bad grammar is on purpose) That's a phrase, in many iterations, I've been sent in most games. Then when you get matched to someone that is a far superior player to yourself you get someone still commenting "you're trash." When you're down 10-2 they are still stealing bases or bunting. Some have been great. I think most are, but the A hats leave a bad taste in my mouth, win or lose.
I'm a big boy too. It's not worth it to me, so I don't play this game online. I play to relax. I happen to love the game of baseball. The sport and this game have helped me to get over, mostly, the death of my wife. I've also had spirited debates with people on here. About baseball, the game, and some parts of life in general. Some have a positive attitude that's really refreshing and I'll debate them as well.
You are entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to disagree with it. If I came off as disrespectful, I really am sorry.

I looked up the number of people playing online during the baseball season and in June on PSN there were ~200 per 24 hour period. Maybe they just don’t have enough people playing online?
