But what would be wrong if they could just figure out how to let the play finish before the disconnect ended the game?
I don’t think they can- obviously is a perfect world that would be the ideal solution
I think if they could code it it would’ve been done already
But I def know they can get implement penalties for quits/disconnects/dashboards since it’s already in co-op
That needs to be carried over to single h2h online play- all modes(Br, events, ranked even casual lol)
They can't implement a cool down penalty until they address freeze offs. Also, if you're that concerned about stats counting for mission completion; then complete missions by playing 'offline' modes. Unless you're referring to BR Missions.
No I don’t want to play “offline”
And you literally get more points by completing missions online
And the freeze off thing means nothing
The mode that has the most freeze offs is co-op and they have a cool down penalty in that mode
I’ve played about 40 ranked games this year and none of them ended in a freeze off
My friend and I played co-op ranked two weeks ago and 2 out of the 3 games were freeze offs

Pitchers miss spots all the time- what pitcher do you know irl that has perfect control? I’ll wait
I understand the point you are trying to make, but I have had MANY games with Greg Maddux where I literally couldn't throw a pitch where I wanted to. It would be one thing if it was just once in a while, but it happens way too much.
The "muh IRL" people think that just because something happens very rarely that it should be totally acceptable to have it happen many, many times.
I had three straight games a while ago where I had players who literally swung at every single pitch. Even when I stopped throwing strikes. All three games my starter was at 55-60 pitches in the 9th inning and depending on how many runs I was ahead; diamond defenders would boot every play until the winning run came to the plate.
All three times I threw strikes so far out of the zone they were at eyeball level, and all three were 500 foot bombs to win the game.
That's not realistic, or "that's baseball" that's just blatant scripting a win for the other player. And yes, I have had several games where I couldn't touch a guy, only to be handed a free win due to AI shenanigans.

So isn't the hanging pitch that was aimed in the dirt, that hung, which allowed you to hit said HR. I'm not dashboarding you, I'm dashboarding the POS game. Sorry if the HR doesn't count.
What are you even talking about?
I’ve never seen a video game with a player base so clueless about the sport they’re playing
Pitchers miss spots all the time- what pitcher do you know irl that has perfect control? I’ll wait
Capitalizing on mistakes is what makes a good hitter irl and in the video game
So I should be punished bc I was able to hit a pitch? That literally makes zero sense
Just let the home run land and quit like a normal adult
Dashboarding is one of the most immature things in this game… thanks for letting me know you’re one of them
I typically will let it land....but not when I aim a fastball that I intentionally release late to assure the ball goes in the dirt and you get a random pitch that teleports...Why should you be the only one rewarded for the way the game plays?
It's happened to me all year. If you can't beat em....join em'
Literally a pathetic way of thinking
Couldn’t be me smh

So if you played a game and couldn’t hit a spot with your pitcher all game why don’t you just quit? Lol
So by your own admission you’ll wait until your opponent hits a HR to dashboard and quit anyway?
That’s bizarre
-
There’s literally no logical explanation for dashboarding other than being a crybaby
It’s the same ideology as the kid that kicks the basketball over the fence bc he has to go home for dinner and wants no one else to have fun
-
So call me a cry baby. Take your win and move on...and stop "crying" about being dahboarded.

No, I don't dashboard. I know first hand how much that sucks. Once the game has become obvious that nothing I do will have an impact on the game and I am doomed to a loss I move on, but I don't hose the guy out of a run. The play is over and then I leave.
No sense wasting time on a game I have zero chance to win, watching my players stats go down while my opponent gets free BP off me.
I have it happen to me multiple times a day. I move on to the next game. Do you really mean to tell me Greg Maddux, arguably the greatest control pitcher of his era just got lucky 75-80 times a night for 20 years?
90 plus control pitchers should not have multiple games a day where NOTHING goes where it is aimed. I had one game where I said "fine, they want this guy to get a free homer, let's get it over with." I aimed it right down the middle, perfect release, and the pitch almost hit the batter in the shoulder.
That's not just a pitcher who missed a spot on one pitch, that's a scripted outcome.
-
LOL! As fate and SDS would have it, GGs my friend!
-
Dashboarding sucked that year they had the prestige cards and you had to hit 75 online home runs with Mike Trout or whatever it was and people would literally dashboard every single time you hit one. With PXP I could care less , Ill earn that 40 pxp the next game when I strike out 5 times getting my rear handed to me by some goon

Then you take the chance of someone dashboarding. Not saying it's right just saying that if you want to play online, to get the extra points, then you take that gamble of someone dashboarding.
The reason they implemented a cool down penalty for Co-Op is because last year, when someone quit, the whole game ended.
They shot themselves in the foot with it because it caused issues with Co-Op Games that froze.
Imagine playing a Ranked or BR game, where it freezes, and the only way to unfreeze it is to quit. But whomever gets gets a cool down penalty. You would have freeze offs that could last weeks.

That's another one of the reasons I rarely play online...I joined a league two years ago, and only played two games. One I finished when I got blown out of the water by hanging pitches...which at first I thought I didnt aim anywhere near where they ended up, but ultimately attributed to my own stupidity...the second I quit because I threw a perfect release curve down and away to a lefty, they somehow pulled for a no doubter. I screenshot it, sent it to my opponent and asked him to screenshot his...sure enough, his was a bp meatball, while mine showed the pitch down and away. I haven't played online since.

The dashboarding on HRs has to be penalized next year… it’s gotten ridiculous at this point
Idk if it’s because it’s the end of the year but the last two days has been nothing but people quitting and deleting homeruns
It’s totally unfair and needs to addressed 100% especially since the game relays on pxp missions to complete programs
This is honestly one of the main things that needs to be addressed next year… you made a penalty for people that quit co-op games
Make a penalty for people that dashboard… if their internet sucks and that’s why they get disconnected well so be it
if you play me, please dashboard more. Especially in events, saves me time! Lol like it is 2023 and october and people still get upset they lose their virtual home run. You are getting a free win. Take and move on.

Thanks for this information. I have had many games where this has happened to me and wonder now if all pitching online is scripted. I had a guy yesterday where my pitches were aimed way outside and he chased badly on pitches that looked obviously easy to take, yet he fished for it multiple times. Perhaps they looked like they were going in the zone on his end.

If I quit I’ll just quit like a normal adult- I don’t need to rush and frantically close the app bc I’m scared to get a homerun hit on me
What’s funny about your post is if I dashboarded that would be more time for me- I’d have to restart the game etc etc
If I just quit like a normal adult I can hop right back into a game if I wanted to play another
But do you buddy
-
@aware_ward13 "I'll quit like a normal adult" were adults playing a kids game lol, There is nothing tough about quitting, quitting is quitting, is it annoying sure, but lets not act like you have some moral back bone because you never dash board.
-
I hardly ever play online. A few times this year for program stat missions. I never rage quit on it though and I should. I completely suck. Lost every game I’ve played online and some bad. I’d rather lose 100-0 than be a [censored] and leave.
My biggest issue though is the freezing people do. Played a game where at one point he brought in a reliever in the second. Inning off a nine inning game and when he pitched the ball ended up coming out of the opposite hand he was throwing with. After a few of these throws, my hitter could only hit the bunt button, nothing else and my screen was frozen and the only thing that worked was closing the game. I really don’t agree with the punishment of waiting a while after you quit, seems to benefit cheaters of the game
-
I could never dashboard. I cannot even quit. My ego cant take it. I am not gonna give you the joy of making me dashboard.
-
@chucky97___
Lol this is such a cop out
Are irl athletes adults playing “a kid game”? Sure
They’re still expected to act like adults - keyword expected.
There’s just really no excuse that you can come up with(and trust me you’ve tried)… it really doesn’t save time, it’s not bc you’re mad pinpoint messed up and you want to punish sds lol
You’re mad someone hits a HR and/or is beating you so you rage quit and delete the HR bc that makes you feel better lol… that’s the bottom line
Again like I said, that couldn’t be me.
Why would I care if you hit a HR off me and get credit for it in a “kids game” as you like to call it.
And honestly I’d bet money that more adults play this video game than little kids tbh- especially ranked and online modes
What’s really surprising about this thread is how many of you guys actually support this behavior of deleting HRs bc you’re angry. It’s quite comical lol
No wonder it happens so much in this game… I had it happen to me multiple times in casual games this week. A casual game which doesn’t count towards records and ppl still dashboard HRs smh
Like I said the purpose of this thread is to mention that there should be a penalty for dashboarding/quitting just like there is in co-op
-
Definitely no real way to combat Dashboarding because there are multiple different reasons that it can occur... yes the intentional dashboard is a pain but power outages, internet outages, and pets that lack social awareness (cats in particular) can cause such a thing to happen... I had an incident on Tuesday when attempting to play the first Spider-Man as I was trying to play through that and the DLC and then hopefully Miles Morales before Spider-Man 2 and as I'm recording with my Elgato, "my" cat (cause she's not really my cat, but she's at my house for an undetermined amount of time) decided to jump onto the desk and stand and move about on my laptop with zero f's given and ended up loosing my usb connection which led to the picture going out on the game and not only that she caused the external hard drive to not be connected so the Elgato was no longer capturing footage... I don't like isolating her but in that moment I had no choice...
TLDR... there are multiple reasons a player can lose their connection... and yes there is no defense for the "rage quit" via dashboarding... sometimes people lose their composure... is it an excuse... no but it's human emotion... I find myself playing less H2H because I had a real bad case of this a few The Shows ago and try to make it a point to only play H2H when I'm in the right mind frame to withstand anything that could set me off.. there's nothing worse than having a great game against your opponent and you tell yourself "no matter how this ends I'll send my opponent a GG" only for them to start bunt-dancing and doing all sorts of other tactics to ruin the experience taking you to a place where it's just like "F this" if they do ultimately get the better of you.
I don't know, maybe it's just me.
-
That’s bs. Everyone knows the rage quitter on home runs. There’s no outage that second. Get real
