Still no fix on boosts

It means nothing, who cares

People are mad about this? Lol

I think one of the many problems of Captain cards is they made a way to build a team around a Captain, but not select a suitable Captain for your favorite squad.
I don’t play online, but I can see where @ICYAmador1986_XBL would be frustrated with people using a Captain to get a boost, but not need to use the Captain card. It defeats the purpose.

It is an exploit at the end of the day. He boosts your "team" and is never really technically on it. Only people that have played the game for a long time will know that. Others might actually leave him in to get the boost and will have a disadvantage because their opponent gets to sub in Jimmie Foxx, while they are still using a mediocre Cal.
Once they are pulled from the game, then the advantage should leave with them. And as I said, most newer players will not know the ins and outs of this bug... I mean feature.
If you want the boost, use the captain that gives it. If you have a situation where you have to sub him out, then that's a decision you should have to make, but you shouldn't get to have all the perks and none of the consequences.
-
If you lost because of that I have a tiny violin for you.
-
So if you have a captain starter and/or relief pitcher and they don’t play they shouldn’t boost the rest of your pitchers? Or are you guys just upset about their hitters being boosted?
-
I would be fine sticking with the parameters that SDS established. So pitchers get the boost even if they are not starting. Hitters have to be in the starting lineup. That is the framework that they set up, so I do not think it's too much of a stretch to have your hitting captain remain on the field for the game.
On a side note, I know people are benefitting from this, but my point is stating that it clearly wasn't supposed to be implemented this way. I think of this the same way the two-way player John Donaldson glitch worked earlier. Can you also use it? Of course. But everyone could tell that it wasn't the way it was supposed to actually work. In this case, same thing. But since everyone is doing it and you are not seeing it in every single game, they haven't addressed it.
But it is pretty obvious that your leader, your igniter, your captain, the one that is able to inspire the team, should not get benched in his first at bat, but still have the ability to inspire the team from the showers.

They completely botched the captain feature. If the requirement is to have an uncompetitive batter in the lineup all game then no one will use it.
I think they know this and aren’t fixing it so they can show engagement statistics that falsely imply that captains were a useful / good idea that they didn’t completely screw up.
If they patch it the way you are suggesting online captain usage will drop to zero and it will be painfully obvious they had no idea what they were doing.

That is true.. Or.. they can put in new captains that are actually useful (There is still time and Sets left). My point with bringing it up was that it seemed more like a bug that never got fixed. I'm not arguing with how people use it now AND at this point of the game, the captains only give a couple extra contact to roided out versions of players. Hopefully maybe next time, they can make it so the captain has relevance too.

One of my better hitters in season 1 was captain Tim Salmon .
-
i don't mind hitting with captain lindor and his clemente boost

The captains should have NO negative numbers associated with them. I’ve started to use many of them this year, see the negative “boost” and then take them right out.
They are captains. They add to the team, not take away.
